Paradise Season 2, Episode 3 commences with a flashback to Sinatra's past. We witness her attending Dr. Louge's lecture, where he propounds the impending doom of the world's end. Afterward, she approaches him for further discourse and they venture out for a drink. Louge enlighten her about the Venus Syndrome. He elucidates how, years post the volcanic eruption, as things seem to settle, people will presume the worst is over—but that's merely the prologue. Louge asserts that the greenhouse gases will escalate temperatures to such an extent that oceans might evaporate, leading to a high-pressure atmosphere that will annihilate all survivors.

The timeline shifts to the day Cal Bradford won his election. Sinatra expresses her concern that the Colorado Project isn't progressing swiftly enough, asserting that it was never merely about constructing a bunker. She discusses this with Kane (Cal's father) about a developer who's withholding a crucial technology deemed essential for the bunker's survival. Kane suggests she cease taking the diplomatic approach.
Fast forward to the present, Sinatra awakens in the bunker hospital after a month-long coma. During this hiatus, posters of President Henry Baines have taken over the space. Meanwhile, Jeremy and his companions are orchestrating a covert rebellion, marking their territory with 'X's everywhere. He communicates with Presley through cryptic notes left in a mini library—a box kept in public for people to take and leave books. He now dispatches a message about the 'X's to Presley, who's under Nicole and James' care.
A flashback reveals Xavier and Nicole conversing before he departed. Jane suddenly enters and informs them that Sinatra is alive. She weeps about it, and Xavier suggests they declare that he shot Sinatra. He also tells Nicole not to resist until he returns with his wife.
In the present, Nicole instructs Presley and James to steer clear of trouble until their father returns. It transpires that Nicole has been demoted and now works under Jane. They head to a meeting with the President and other billionaires in power. President Baines proposes reviving summer, allowing people to savor the festive season and divert their attention from the Xavier Collins controversy. Someone mentions that part of the energy is being diverted for one of Sinatra's projects. Anders, the scientist who aided Sinatra in building the bunker, protests that increasing temperatures could melt the entire system. The president has Anders removed.
Post the meeting, Jane meets Sinatra in the hospital. Sinatra claims not to recall anything, and Jane informs her that Xavier shot her. Sinatra is subsequently summoned for interrogation, at the president's bidding. Gabriela Torabi, the psychologist once Sinatra's friend, interrogates her about the power being diverted from the bunker. Sinatra asserts she knows nothing about it, and lie detectors confirm her veracity. The president berates Sinatra for keeping secrets, and Sinatra claims he needs a breath mint. Jane, who's observing this entire scenario, smiles enigmatically.
In another setting, Presley hands a note to James, who promptly delivers it to the mini-library. There, James discovers a message from Jeremy, inviting Presley to meet at 6 pm. However, James, with concerns about Presley's well-being, chooses to disregard the note and discard it. A flashback reveals Sinatra's encounter with Billy, where she hires him to "take care" of a developer who's withholding the technology she requires. Billy meets the man at a bar and engages in a conversation. The developer shares how a young student has become his business partner. After a cordial chat, Billy slides Sinatra's contract across the table, urging the developer to sign it for a better life. The developer signs and leaves, but Billy notices an address written on the paper instead of his signature.
In the present, President Baines remains preoccupied with Sinatra's lack of transparency. Jane wins his favor with her flattering words, while Nicole keeps a watchful eye on her. Later, Nicole delves into Jane's file and discovers that Jane made significant statements in Billy's death case. That evening, President Baines decides to go for a jog without security, only allowing Jane to accompany him.
Gabriela visits Sinatra at her house, presenting them with a photo of their memorable trip together. Sinatra assumes she's there to reconcile, but Gabriela clarifies that she doesn't believe their relationship is worth fixing.
At home, James confesses to Presley that he threw Jeremy's note away out of worry for losing her. He finally tells her that Jeremy wanted to meet her at 6 pm - an hour ago. Just in time, Presley arrives to witness the police taking Jeremy away.
Nicole continues her investigation at Billy's house, discovering health equipment that contradicts Jane's testimony about Billy's shoulder injury and an engagement ring that contradicts her statement about him not looking forward to anything.
In a flashback, Billy arrives at the address the developer left for him - his house. The man introduces Billy to his wife, who's been bedridden and barely conscious for years due to Huntington's disease. The man injects her with a fatal chemical and tells her he'll see her soon, calling her by her name - Alex. He tells Billy that he's supposed to be there and that it's all part of fate. He hands Billy a tissue, saying he'll need it.
He pleaded solely for Billy to spare the boy's life. In response, Billy ended the man's existence. Seconds later, his nose began to bleed, and he utilized the tissue the man had given him. As he left, he caught a glimpse of the boy the man had been referring to – it was Link! Billy instructed him to pretend he hadn't seen anything and run away. Following this, Billy informed Sinatra that the job was complete. She inquired about how she could avail his services again, and he responded that she simply needed to send him a photo and a name, stating that the person required a breath mint. This phrase echoes a previous conversation.
At present, Jane and President Baines are engaged in a jog when he stops to catch his breath. She seizes the opportunity to slit his throat. Nicole arrives, seeking Jane, but is knocked unconscious by her, making it appear as though she was the one who attacked the president. Jane then reported it.
We observe that Jeremy and the other "prisoners" have been taken deeper underground. He encounters Anders and expresses his desire to collaborate with him to "uncover the truth behind all of this."
At home, Sinatra converses with a maid named Carmen and inquires about Alex. Through a bug in the photograph, Gabriela overhears everything.
