Partner Track – Season 1 Episode 2

Published: Jul 16 2024

Episode 2 of Partner Track kicks off with Ingrid balancing the scales of her family and social commitments against her burgeoning career. With Lina staying over, Ingrid grapples with her burgeoning love triangle, torn between Jeff and Nick.

At the office, Ingrid is summoned by Marty, and amidst a comical encounter with his secretary, the real matter at hand comes to light. It transpires that Lassiter's keen interest in Min Enterprises stems from their crude oil holdings in Louisiana. However, a crucial detail emerges: the Min family owns the mineral rights, not the actual land. Should the oil wells cease production, the rights revert back to the landowner, and the Mins halted operations 90 days ago. This terminates the lease, and Ingrid must delve into decades-old land lease documents to salvage the deal.

The task is daunting, akin to finding a needle in a haystack—or, more aptly, a document amidst an office piled high with boxes. To add to her woes, she must collaborate with Jeff Murphy. Every time Jeff rolls up his sleeves and brushes against Ingrid, she's reminded of their passionate past. Surprisingly, Jeff decides to take a different approach, tracking people online rather than historical records, and he manages to streamline the search, earning Ingrid's admiration.

Nick's arrival with lunch for Ingrid is a welcome surprise. It's here that we learn he works at his father's equity firm, affording him the flexibility to take a lunch break and visit her. Jeff's subsequent appearance tensions the atmosphere once again, but they return to the grind.

Unfortunately, when Ingrid and Jeff uncover the document, it offers no respite, still stating the rights revert to the landowner.

Meanwhile, Tyler is busy wooing fashion moguls Luxe with a lucrative deal. He leverages his insight into the fashion industry and makes strategic moves, even earning an invitation to pitch to Raymond. Online, the hashtag #luxesux trends, and Tyler ponders if this is why online retailers shy away from Luxe. Yet, when he broaches this with Raymond, the latter dismisses the notion of online trolls affecting business.

Tyler, driven by initiative, surpassed Raymond and caught the eye of Luxe's CEO, Tim. However, Raymond was displeased to learn of this, emphasizing that they were not a crisis response team. Tyler's position was precarious; he desperately needed to secure this deal to avoid dire consequences.

Meanwhile, Rachel and Dan collaborated on a case involving Gigi, an elderly woman who had achieved significant success but faced challenges with her inheritance for Fun Time Farm, a thriving and profitable theme park. Gigi's three eccentric children were deemed unsuitable to take over, and during a heated discussion about the park's future, Gigi suffered a stroke and passed away.

That evening, Ingrid experienced a moment of clarity, inspired by Justin's intervention. She realized that a "shut-in" clause could enable the Mins to maintain mineral rights even without oil production, by allocating royalties to landowners. After locating the crucial document, Ingrid managed to impress Marty. However, she was displeased with Jeff's indifferent attitude and chastised him for his repeated apologies.

As the episode drew to a close, Ingrid's sexual frustration throughout the day erupted into a passionate flurry as she visited Nick. Without hesitation, she leaned over the sofa and embarked on a fervent kiss.
