Partner Track – Season 1 Episode 3

Published: Jul 16 2024

Episode 3 of "Partner Track" commences with Ingrid waking up in the cozy confines of Nick's abode. Two blissful weeks have flown by, and the duo has been enjoying each other's company like never before, indulging in romantic dates and carefree outings. However, Ingrid's prolonged absence from her own abode spells disaster. Upon returning, she finds Lina has wreaked havoc on her apartment. Lina assumes Ingrid is hiding Nick from her, and labels him as "the epitome of whiteness."

While Ingrid's burgeoning relationship with Nick has captured the headlines, it's the ongoing predicament with Sun Corp that truly steals the show. Marty summons Ingrid back to his office, where Ted's jitters and fear of Min pulling out loom large. Consequently, Ingrid is dispatched to meet the CEO, accompanied by Murphy. During the ride, Ingrid instructs Murphy to read up on Bradburn Energy, while she steers the car. Nick's call interrupts this moment, and the entire exchange becomes painfully awkward, especially with Jeff's incessant interruptions.

Meanwhile, Rachel has plunged into a state of recklessness after Gigi's demise, choosing to live life on the edge. She indulges in alcohol and wild nights, yet manages to maintain her work ethic. Grammy's children continue to harass her over the inheritance, and the delay in the issuance of the death certificate compounds her woes. This case strikes a chord with Rachel, prompting her to question her life choices. After an eye-opening encounter with Wujay, she vows to regain control of her life.

Tyler remains embroiled in the Luxe saga, forming an unlikely alliance with Dan in this episode. Tyler is initially dismayed by Dan's questionable fashion sense, but he eventually adapts and seems to make a positive impression... for a fleeting moment. Tyler confronts Valdo, who creates a scene and threatens to sue Luxe. However, Tyler has ample ammunition to retaliate, given their graffiti-filled vandalism of the office. But Raymond doesn't see it that way, heaping even more pressure on Tyler to resolve the issue.

At Min Energy, Ingrid boldly strides in, seeking Carter Min alone. Carter confesses that his brother Z, an ardent eco-warrior, seems intent on undermining the company's advancements. After relaying the details, he urges Ingrid to confront Z directly.

It transpires that Z's opposition to the Lassiter deal stems from his disdain for their dinosaur-like approach to renewable energy. Z has seen through the facade and realizes that Lassiter is merely interested in the oil reserves. Consequently, he believes Bradburn would be a more suitable partner.

Displeased, Ingrid voices her concerns, arguing that the Sun Corp deal could indeed make a significant impact if Lassiter truly committed to making positive changes from within. Disheartened, Ingrid makes her way back to the car, only to find it dead, due to Murphy's oversight in charging it. This inconvenient revelation coincides with the eve of a significant dinner with her family.

Jeff elects to stay with the car while Ingrid calls Nick, asking him to pick her up. On the journey, Marty calls with exhilarating news; the pitch has succeeded, and Ingrid has salvaged the deal. Overjoyed, Ingrid decides to bring Nick with her to the anticipated family dinner, fortunately not too late.

The evening progresses smoothly... until Lina abruptly alters the atmosphere by announcing her decision to drop out of school. The night continues smoothly... until Ingrid returns home. Shockingly, Lina has left her apartment in a state of utter disarray, with a leaky dishwasher flooding the floor and a charred cooker in ruins. With nowhere else to go and repairs estimated to take four to six weeks, Nick kindly suggests Ingrid stay with him.
