Peacemaker – Season 1 Episode 6 1

Indoors, Emilia confesses her long-standing knowledge of Murn, stretching back to the incident where he bore the brunt of a bomb blast to his face with scarcely a scratch. Possessing a wealth of Butterfly lore, Murn unravels some of its mysteries.

These Butterflies, having fled a dying planet, sought refuge on Earth. The Butterfly that inhabited Goff was their commander, but its noble intentions soon gave way to ambition. It embarked on a quest to inhabit powerful figures, sparking chaos. To thwart this nefarious plot, another Butterfly assumed the guise of the least likely candidate – Murn. Despite acknowledging the gravity of its actions, this Butterfly justifies its choice as a necessary evil in the grander scheme.

With Leota temporarily onboard and a promise to keep Waller in the dark, the team delves into security footage from the plant. They swiftly discern a pattern: a tank of raw amber arrives every three days, but its origin remains elusive.

Elsewhere, Auggie is freed from prison, his thirst for revenge igniting as he sets his sights on Peacemaker. Unbeknownst to him, Song is already onto the case, albeit with the intention of apprehending rather than eliminating him. She orchestrates a raid on Peacemaker's trailer. Noticing the exodus of officers, Caspar Locke alerts Murn to the impending trouble.

At Peacemaker's trailer, Vigilante's arrival stirs awe in both him and Peacemaker as they behold Goff's peaceful symbol etched upon a wall. As they pose yes-or-no questions to the Butterfly, the police close in. Fortunately, Murn manages to communicate with Vigilante, enabling the gang to escape through the roof. Though they narrowly dodge capture, the police uncover Leota's hidden diary.

Song spots Eagley perched atop the roof, partly because Peacemaker's whistle has drawn her attention to it. She immediately begins to scour the woods in search of the duo. However, fate takes a dark turn. Vigilante loses his footing and plummets from the tree, causing the glass jar containing Goff to shatter, and in a bizarre twist, the butterfly winds up inside Song. As she writhes in agony on the ground, with blood trickling from her lips, Vigilante and Peacemaker flee for dear life. They narrowly escape the clutches of the police but find themselves trapped by a lone officer until Caspar Locke arrives and brutally dispatches him, thereby rescuing the superheroes. He urges them to depart swiftly.

Fortunately, Song recovers swiftly and dashes off, ignoring Fitz, determined to reach out to some of her "friends." Fitz trails her and catches her in the act of communicating with fellow Butterflies on the work computer. Meanwhile, Goff reveals that Sophie harbored deep affection for him, attempting a humorous smile amidst the chaos, which provides one of the episode's lighter moments.

Goff's cunning plan succeeds in summoning a swarm of Butterflies to his side, arriving in an array of miniature UFOs. With an army of Butterflies at his beck and call, Goff storms back into the police station, where he takes control of both the officers and prisoners, who march out en masse. Notably absent is White Dragon, who remains at home with his devout followers, assisting him in donning his armor.

Upon Peacemaker's return to base, the truth about Goff's escape comes to light. Murn is taken aback and confirms that the diary, the very one Leota planted in his apartment, is now in their possession—specifically with Caspar, who earlier in the episode had securely locked it in his desk drawer.

Economos chips in, announcing that he has traced the origin of the amber oil to Coverdale Ranch. If they can destroy this food source, it could potentially eradicate all other Butterflies. It seems this ranch is home to the elusive "cow," the sole large animal on the planet from which they extract amber oil.
