Percy Jackson and the Olympians – Season 2 Episode 5 1

The sirens entice heroes to their doom by tapping into their vulnerabilities and presenting them with tantalizing visions. Annabeth mentions that Odysseus used beeswax to shield himself from the sirens' song, but CC points out that it was special wax bestowed by the god of bees. Annabeth soon realizes that CC is in fact Circe, the witch who was banished to this island for eternity. She recalls how Circe transformed men into pigs, but the witch claims she has left those days behind.

Circe takes the demigods for their initial training session, instructing Percy to gaze into a mirror and confront his fatal flaw. All Percy can see is Tyson, as he feels a sense of guilt for not being able to save him. Circe reveals that his fatal flaw is how much he prioritizes his friends over himself, to the extent that he could even destroy the world for those he loves. This revelation causes Percy to flee in a panic, telling Annabeth that he truly is a danger to her and the rest of Olympus.

Meanwhile, Clarisse washes up on a beach on the island of Polyphemus. She becomes entangled in a trap and is kidnapped by the cyclops. She is taken to the same cave as Grover, where they attempt to escape using a rope. However, it snaps, and Clarisse falls down, losing consciousness. Polyphemus arrives and this time, he sees through Grover's ruse of pretending to be his bride.

As Percy speaks with one of the older heroes around the resort, he realizes that they have been on the island for many decades. He confronts Circe about this, describing how she has been trapping heroes on her island under the guise of training them for the sirens, but in reality, it is to alleviate her own loneliness. He offers to keep her secret if she helps Annabeth escape. Circe's response is to magically transform Percy into a guinea pig! He is forced to join the other animals in Circe's room, all of whom seem to have once been people.

Back in Polyphemus' cave, Grover is now locked inside a cupboard. Clarisse, unable to find the key, begins to lose hope, recalling her prophecy that she would end up in a tomb of stone. Grover encourages her, but Clarisse soon realizes that it's not his voice, but rather Polyphemus pretending to talk like Grover. Polyphemus reveals that he knows all about Percy and has been pretending to be a dimwitted cyclops the entire time.

Meanwhile, Annabeth approaches Circe with a new plan to get past the sirens, involving tying her and Percy to the stern of a boat. She also confesses that her fatal flaw is pride and that she discovered this long ago at camp. As she notices a guinea pig creating a small whirlpool in a nearby water container and Percy's sword-pen on Circe's desk, Annabeth throws a bunch of magical vitamins into the cage, allowing the guinea pigs to turn back into men - including Blackbeard and his pirates.

Percy steals Circe's wax and they get on a boat. However, there's only enough wax for one person, so Annabeth ties Percy to the mast. Before she can put the wax in, Circe uses her magic to summon the box away. Annabeth is sucked into a vision of Grover, Percy, and Luke created by the sirens, but she doesn't fall for it and instead takes down two of the sirens. Before the third can attack her, Athena herself arrives and saves Annabeth.

Athena is proud of how Annabeth set a trap for the sirens, something no one has ever done before. Annabeth takes her hand, but this turns out to be a vision from the sirens as well! Fortunately, Percy - having managed to cut himself loose - arrives in time and pulls Annabeth back to the boat. Later, Percy says that his focus on Annabeth allowed him not to succumb to the sirens' song. The episode ends with Percy and Annabeth finally arriving close to Polyphemus' island.
