In the opening of Episode 10 of "Phantom Lawyer," I-rang arrives at the office he now shares with Na-hyun to find a familiar woman waiting for him. Initially, he mistakes her for a ghost, causing Na-hyun, who arrives shortly after, to fear that she can also see ghosts. However, they soon realize that the woman is a client.

Ms. Cha has come to see I-rang about her husband's case, which involves a ghostly apparition of her late spouse. She tells a story of how she met her husband in 1979. Young Ms. Cha was walking down a street with her friend, discussing marriage, when she noticed him making shoes. At that time, she was preparing to open a shop using the marriage fund from her family, and she proposed a business idea. She studied design, and her husband made the shoes, but they needed a leather supplier, which is why they brought in Seon-hwa.
The three became the founding members of Ideal Shoes, a brand that is still very popular. Even Na-hyun is one of their loyal customers. It turns out that Seon-hwa was from North Korea and had left her child behind. She used to send money to her family, and she was accused of being a spy and arrested. Ms. Cha and her husband couldn't speak up for her because they were afraid of losing their business, which would have affected many families. A few years later, Seon-hwa died in prison.
Ms. Cha and her husband felt that they had failed her, which is why they started looking for her son but never found him. Her husband left a will giving a third of the inheritance to Seon-hwa's son, should he be found. One year after his passing, Seon-hwa's son, Cha Eung-seong, was found. However, his son, Kang Ji-hoon, is now contesting his father's last will and has hired the Taebaek firm. He is in a meeting with Do-gyeong at the same time as I-rang and Na-hyun are discussing the case.
The story of Ms. Cha's husband's ghostly appearance and the contestation of his last will adds an intriguing layer to the show's plot, as I-rang and his team must navigate the complexities of the case while grappling with the emotional weight of Ms. Cha's story.
He shares that his mother is insisting on honoring his father's will, which has significant implications for the company. Ever since Seon-hwa's wrongful imprisonment and death, she has refused to indulge in a life of luxury, opting instead to live in a small apartment and sell vegetables. Back in I-rang's office, Ms. Cha provides them with the husband's name, Kang Dong-sik, and his date of birth. However, the issue is that he suffered from severe dementia before his death, so he remembers being a shoemaker but cannot recall Ms. Cha. Kang Dong-sik's trigger is anything related to shoes. He can deduce so much about a person just by looking at their shoes. I-rang tries to jog his memories by showing him a photo of his young self with Ms. Cha and Seon-hwa outside his old workshop. He suddenly possesses I-rang and insists on going to the workshop in Malli-dong for work. Na-hyun offers to drive him there but finds her car boxed in. She asks him to wait in the car while she finds the other drivers, but when she returns, he is gone. Na-hyun tries calling his phone but gets no response. Meanwhile, Dong-sik, as I-rang, takes a bus to Malli-dong but is stranded when he learns that the workshop is now a completely different shop. The shopkeeper kicks him out, and Dong-sik wanders around the area, unsure of where to go next. He is almost hit by a motorcycle at a zebra crossing and hurts his hand when he falls. Na-hyun sees him and runs towards him, but by the time she arrives, he is gone again. She keeps looking until she finds him sitting alone at the side of a road, defeated. Na-hyun feels concerned for I-rang and mentions how he feels alone and helpless when possessed. She promises to help him going forward and gives him a hug, which confuses Dong-sik but he does not push her away. Back at the office, I-rang returns, and Na-hyun thinks they should settle for a fair level, but I-rang wants to help Ms. Cha execute her husband's will. Na-hyun understands that I-rang will fight until the end, and she has to get ready to work harder. At Taebaek, Chairman Yang gives the case to someone else, fearing that Do-gyeong will not be able to handle it due to his feelings towards the defense, I-rang, and Na-hyun. Do-gyeong assures him that he will do his best and takes the case back.
Both teams prepare for the case. Do-gyeong focuses on the contents of the will, while I-rang and Na-hyun work to establish that Seon-hwa was a founding member, thereby entitling her son to a share in the will. They then have a meeting with Eung-seong and realize that he does not know that his mom is dead. They plan to tell him in due time.
Later, Dong-sik possesses I-rang and drives to his house. He spent hours working on shoes, which he feels were for someone special. Meanwhile, Na-hyun's father intends to stop by the office to drop off some food. At the same time, Do-gyeong is outside the office contemplating whether to deliver the gift he brought to congratulate Na-hyun for finding an office.
While distracted on the call, Na-hyun's father bumps into Do-gyeong's car. He gets out furious, but soon changes his tune when he learns he is Na-hyun's father. I-rang comes back, and Bong-soo informs him that Na-hyun left with Do-gyeong. He doesn't like the sound of that, so he just leaves and heads home.
Na-hyun is furious that I-rang did not inform her when he reappeared, and she has been running all over the place looking for him. To apologize, I-rang asks her out for dinner at a sushi restaurant.
The next day, they attend a court hearing. To prevent Dong-sik from accidentally possessing him, I-rang takes all the shoes in the house to keep Dong-sik busy in the car. The session starts, and I-rang presents his case, but Ms. Cha is late. She found the shoes Dong-sik made, engraved with the words "for his beloved," and then took them to court with her. Dong-sik sees her enter the courthouse and follows her in. He now seems to remember her as his wife.
Do-gyeong offers his opening statement and drops some shocking revelations. It turns out the will was backdated to 2019, when it was actually written in 2022, after Dong-sik's health had deteriorated. This means that Ms. Cha forged it, and a flashback shows her dictating to her husband what to write. She was the one who reported Seon-hwa as a spy and got her arrested.
A flashback shows that she had feelings for Dong-sik back then, but thought that he loved Seon-hwa instead. She reported out of jealousy and has been living with the guilt of Seon-hwa's death.
At the end of the episode, Ms. Cha leaves, and I-rang, possessed by Dong-sik, angrily insists that he wrote the will. Na-hyun holds him down, and Bong-soo splashes water on his face, bringing back real I-rang.
