Episode 5 of "Public Disorder" kicks off with Salvatore tracking down Lena's abode, only to be greeted by a stranger at the door who steadfastly maintains that she is the sole occupant. When he dials Lena's number and hears it ringing inside, the truth dawns on him: the stranger is Lena herself, having cunningly catfished him all along. On the brink of retribution, Salvatore catches sight of Lena's child and abruptly flees, his resolve melting away.
In an unexpected twist, Stefano springs a demand for joint custody of Agata, leaving Marta devastated by his manipulation yet reluctantly consenting. As she returns home, she finds Salvatore drowned in sorrow, drowning his pain in alcohol. With compassionate resolve, Marta nurses him back to some semblance of sobriety, adjuring him to pull himself together.
Meanwhile, Francesca, the detective assigned to Emma's case, uncovers a distressing revelation: Salis, the accused perpetrator, alongside their mutual friend, Anita, and her brother, all assert that the encounter was consensual. Amidst the haze of drugs and alcohol at the party, Emma too attempted to brush it off, even sending a casual text to Salis the following day. This casualness has inadvertently armed Salis with a defense that could sway the court in his favor, leaving Nobili seething with rage. He descends into personal stalking of Salis, his patience worn thin.
As for Unit 3's latest assignment, they are tasked with escorting two Moroccan traffickers to prison. Marta's anxiety over Salvatore's distracted state is palpable throughout the mission. During the transit, one of the detained youths takes Marta hostage, but Salvatore, summoning his composure, defuses the tense situation and rescues her. His sharp eyes catch a glimpse of a razor blade on the floor, realizing too late that the boy had a second hidden. Despite his best efforts, he can't prevent the boy from swallowing it, resulting in a harrowing scene as the youth chokes on his own blood.
Elsewhere, Anna and Mazinga indulge in a peaceful plant-shopping spree, with Anna warmly inviting Mazinga to join her for Christmas. He, in turn, selects a plant as a gesture of goodwill. Pietro, observing their harmonious arrival and the placement of the plant, confronts Mazinga with suspicion, wondering if he harbors designs on stealing Anna away. Mazinga, attempting to steer the conversation elsewhere, faces Pietro's stern warning to stay away.
At home, Nobili intrudes into Emma's personal space by examining her phone, where he discovers photographs she had shared with Salis. He ponders whether she is bewildered by the recent turn of events, while she herself is left astounded by his actions. Daniela challenges his intentions, prompting him to insist that he trusts Emma, albeit acknowledging the situation's intricacy. Displeased, Daniela dismisses him abruptly.
Unexpectedly, Anna arrives at Mazinga's doorstep for an unplanned dinner. Mazinga attempts to sever their relationship, informing her of Pietro's discovery. She lambasts him for prioritizing Pietro's "respect" over her feelings and storms away in a huff.
At the precinct, the District Attorney seeks a private, unofficial conference with Nobili. He revisits Nobili's past testimonies and urges him to do what is right by disclosing any pertinent information. As Nobili prepares to exhibit Mazinga's bodycam footage, the DA sardonically expresses hope that Unit 3 hasn't corrupted him.
On her journey home, Marta listens intently to Franco's mother's furious denunciations against the perpetrator's freedom. She silences the radio, overwhelmed by the vitriol. Arriving home, she confesses to Agata that she was the one who assaulted Franco.
Elsewhere, Salvatore encounters a distressed Nobili, who has taken refuge at the precinct, and offers him comfort regarding his daughter's situation. Nobili confides in Salvatore about Salis and his influential lawyer father.
As the unit indulges in alcohol and cruises around, Salvatore appears engrossed in his thoughts. The episode of Public Disorder concludes with Salvatore picking up Nobili. Buccini proudly announces a gift for Nobili and hands him a mask. With their faces concealed, they escort Nobili to an abandoned trailer, where Salis is found bound and helpless.
