Episode 4 of Reacher's first season commences with Reacher thoroughly examining Spivey's body, searching for clues that might shed light on the investigation. However, beyond a few tobacco remnants, the scene yields little fruit. Unperturbed, he expertly arranges the bodies of the two Spanish men alongside Spivey in the trunk, and then answers a call from Finlay.

Reacher – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Finlay has uncovered Hubble's deception towards Charlie, revealing that he hasn't worked at the bank for a year. Additionally, he's received a tip about a burned-out car discovered on the outskirts of a farm. It seems someone had attempted to conceal it, but the rain had washed away most of the cover.

Upon arriving at the scene, Reacher scrutinizes the vehicle and detects that the burning was intentional, likely the result of an accelerant and a match. They cannot be absolutely certain it's Joe's car, but through ingenious means, Reacher manages to uncover the VIN number.

Roscoe's arrival prompts them to investigate the trunk, where Reacher reveals the truth of what transpired in the small Iraqi village. The children there were subjected to abuse, and after rescuing them from their nightmare, he confronted the adults. He offered them a choice, but the outcome was tragic, leading to their deaths. The Kliner family, with their vast resources, uncovered this information but twisted it, accusing Reacher of killing civilians.

With the past now clarified, Roscoe and Reacher work in tandem to conceal the bodies and then secure a suite near the airport. Reacher pays in cash, the same stack he had discovered on the bodies earlier. Inside the suite, Reacher ensures every detail is attended to, preparing for the possibility of being followed.

Molly Beth has gathered numerous files, and though she's arriving by plane at 5 am, Roscoe suggests she take a train to Five Points station upon her landing. With fewer cameras and the sensitivity of the classified files she's carrying, it's best for her to maintain a low profile. After the call, Roscoe and Reacher find solace in each other's arms, their pain merging into a tender embrace.

The following day, Reacher and Roscoe visit Mrs. Jobling, intent on seeing Pete. However, he's not there. It transpires that Pete is residing in Brookhaven, providing them with their next clue. Upon meeting Judy, the animosity between her and Pete is palpable. She doesn't seem bothered by his demise, and given their lavish home, Judy admits that Pete was involved in shady dealings.

Indeed, his alleged business seemed focused on selling air conditioners. Thanks to Reacher's straightforward approach, she steered them toward the garage where the aircon boxes were stacked. However, upon inspection, only empty boxes greeted their eyes, devoid of any actual units. This stark contrast did not align with Pete's lavish lifestyle, owning two luxurious homes, one of which he shared with his parents. This discrepancy led Reacher to suspect a link to the counterfeit money scheme involving Kliner.

The bills, he hypothesized, could be printed in South America and then transported to Florida. This provided Jobling with a convenient cover story, using the air conditioner boxes as a pretext to transport the fake money back to Kliner. While this was merely a theory, it held a convincing plausibility.

Back in the city, Finlay's reckless behavior at Kliner's office had finally caught up with him. Teale, displeased, confronted him and threatened to remove him from the case unless he conducted a thorough investigation into a lengthy list of suspects. Reluctantly, Finlay agreed to comply.

Receiving a coded call from Picard, Finlay learned that Charlie and the children were safe, but Picard needed to deliver his files personally to a secure location. Upon arrival, Jack discovered that they had located Ron Hassey, who once used to be Joe's alias. Reacher immediately recognized the connection to his brother.

Upon arriving at the motel, it seemed the South Americans had already gotten to Joe. However, Reacher knew his brother better than they did. In a discarded bag in the trash bins, he uncovered a hidden note, inscribed with a series of numbers and cryptic clues: "Jobling's Garage" and "Gray's Kliner File." Before they could delve deeper, gunmen arrived, opening fire.

The pair fled, but it was evident that Reacher was the primary target. The situation looked dire until Roscoe appeared and intervened, saving the day. However, she was displeased with Reacher's evident emotional reaction to her rescue.

As they departed, Finlay rang with alarming news. He suspected that Stevenson might be one of the corrupt cops, potentially even recognizing Picard's voice and name, jeopardizing the entire operation. Could he be the one who had betrayed them?

Regardless, the trio met in secret once again to decipher Joe's note. Joe was never one to make mistakes, and the numbers seemed to be crucial leads, potentially linked to the animal feed, the note found in the shoe, and a contact number for the Memphis Environmental Protective Agency.

To delve deeper, Reacher reached out to Frances Neagley, a recurring character in his life and a person he trusted implicitly. He relayed all the information and tasked Neagley with uncovering more details.

At the train station, the trio arrived just as Molly did. Tragically, they lost her at the escalator. Sensing something amiss, Reacher descended and discovered the suitcase abandoned on the train tracks, its contents missing. He continued on and found Molly, bloodied and wounded by the side of the tracks. Tragically, she passed away on the spot, leaving them right back where they started.
