Ripple – Season 1 Episode 5 1

The two bond over their fear of being let down by those close to them. With Nate’s birthday approaching, Kris promises to call him, while Aria commits to attending her therapy session.

Speaking of Nat, he is not in a celebratory mood. The restaurant is tanking, he can’t play with Anna at the park without feeling winded, and everything feels like an uphill battle. Sadly, even Finn is having a hard week.

As for Aria, her day takes a turn for the worst when her therapist cancels her session. Meanwhile, Walter’s body pains get worse, and Ellis panics about forgetting Nate’s birthday. She rallies the others to help her throw an impromptu birthday party.

Unfortunately, Aria’s depressive condition grows worse the more she spends time alone, binge-watching her shows. She thinks back to her teenage years when her mom was insistent on her playing the piano.

It turns out Aria ruined her chances at Juilliard because she was tired of her mom’s nagging. She wanted to play guitar and become an artist.

At the hospital, Kris visits Finn to bring her gifts from the UK trip. Finn complains about the music therapy at the hospital but Kris’s visit helps to cheer her up. Later, Kris calls Nate and lies, saying she is too busy to meet.

In the afternoon, the friends meet at Lumi West to prepare for Nate’s surprise birthday party. Walter checks in on Kris while Tara whines about Sylvie staying at her place.

On the way to the party, Rebecca comes across a job flyer. With everything ready, Ellis texts Nate, asking him to drop by for work-related matters. Nate is grateful to have something he can fix and happily leaves.

Meanwhile, Aria’s internet connection goes out, causing her to have a meltdown. She calls the company and gets a chance to talk to Mo. While they talk, Mo realises that Aria is struggling. She offers a listening ear, and the two bond over their fertility issues.

It turns out Mo’s husband left her after learning she is infertile. Mo encourages Aria to rely on her support system and allow others to help her. Their conversation inspires Aria to complete her first song.

At the restaurant, Nate tries to be upbeat as his friends celebrate his birthday. However, he is struggling to stay strong. Later, Kris fills him in on what happened with her dad. He tells her about his condition after the surgery. He is frustrated that he needs more chemo.

After talking to Mo, Aria decides to attend Nate’s birthday. Kris is proud to hear about the new complete song. Everyone is supportive and eager to hear the new song.

At the bar, John and Aria run into Desi. Kris finally recognises John as the man she saw cuddling with Desi the first night she was at the bar.

As the evening unfolds, Carrie strides into the bar, her step brimming with the news of her promotion, eager to share it with Kris. Although Kris beams with joy for her friend, a subtle sting of envy lingers beneath the surface.

Meanwhile, Tara pours her heart out to Walter, lamenting the struggle of adjusting to a new roommate's presence. Her longing for Sylvie's apartment to be remedied so she can escape the situation is palpable. However, fate has other plans when Sylvie receives news that the building inspector has discovered mold in her living space, necessitating an extended stay with Tara.

Aria, on the other hand, engages in a heart-to-heart with Nate, urging him to embark on a therapeutic journey. As he looks on at his friends, Nate is overwhelmed by a tide of emotions that wash over him. Kris, perceiving Nate's exhaustion, gently guides him towards the sofa for respite.

As the night draws to a close, Carrie catches sight of Aria's poster and introduces herself, setting the stage for a fresh beginning. The next morning, Aria awakens with a spring in her step, ready to conquer the world with her music and a heart full of determination.

The episode concludes with a woman playing mini golf at the park with her son, their laughter echoing through the evening air. Walter stumbles upon one of their golf balls, a small but significant moment in an otherwise ordinary day. Meanwhile, Mo receives a call from her sister, revealing that she is Finn's aunt – a twist that adds depth to the already intricate web of their lives.
