The eighth episode of Shin's Project commences with a poignant flashback, where Yun Dong-hee's physician, Cha So-yeon, utters the ominous words, "Tomorrow night." Presently, Choi Chul attempts to connect with her, but she brushes him off. Cha So-yeon is subsequently found deceased, having allegedly leapt from the rooftop of the building. The case is swiftly closed due to a lack of evidence pointing towards foul play.

Shin’s Project – K-drama Episode 8 1

At the cozy chicken shop, a woman named Mo Sun-mi pays a visit to Philip. As they engage in conversation, Shin and Si-on notice the tears glistening in her eyes. The truth is, she is seeking assistance. Sun-mi works at a gym that has failed to remunerate her properly for the past six months.

At Hujin Arcade, Kwon Chil-bong and Jang Tong-woo indulge in gossip about Sun-mi and Philip, which piques Si-on's ire. Later, Kim Soo-dong meets Shin with a revelation: someone deposited a million dollars into Dong-hee's account on the day Cha So-yeon perished. Interestingly, Dong-hee also received two payments back in 2009.

Philip visits the office of Power Health Gym, Sun-mi's workplace, also known as PHG. Their lawyer, an acquaintance named Dong-seok, turns out to be uninterested in the plight of the employees who have not been paid in six months due to the gym's unfair independent contractor contracts.

Back at the chicken shop, Shin encounters an acquaintance named Kim Seung-tae, who arrives with a posse of men in black. As they savor the chicken, Shin requests a favor from Seung-tae. Philip returns to the shop in time to witness the men departing, with Seung-tae asking Shin if he desires tools like a pickaxe or a crowbar. Philip reports this to Judge Kim, who instructs him to uncover Shin's motives.

The next day, Philip finally reveals to Shin the full story behind Sun-mi's predicament. She was once a franchise owner of a company called Daldalbongju. The franchise owners sued the head office for taking unfair profits, but the case stagnated. Philip was a lawyer for the head office at that time. Now, Sun-mi is struggling to repay her loans while the gym refuses to pay her. Shin agrees to lend a hand.

The following day, Shin and his friends indulged in a complimentary gym session, where Shin stumbled upon a chilling revelation: the trainers were engaged in card fraud to meet their quotas. Meanwhile, Si-on continued to shun Philip, prompting him to inquire if it was due to Sun-mi's influence. However, she firmly stated that her aversion was not merely about Sun-mi but a genuine dislike for him.

Later, Shin and Seung-tae paid a visit to Sunshine Daycare, revealing that Seung-tae was the property owner. He granted Shin free rein to use the facility, even suggesting that he could use it to bury a body (a joking reference, of course). That evening, Philip vented his frustration about Si-on's indifference to Shin, who advised him to try again. Philip heeded the advice and found Si-on and Ye-on at a grocery store. Unfortunately, he overheard Si-on tell Ye-on that Philip was not her boyfriend, leading him to refrain from voicing his true feelings.

Shin then met with Cha So-yeon's husband, who expressed his concern about the medical facility's director potentially getting into trouble. Shin instructed him to speak with Choi Chul. At the PHG head office, Dong-seok realized that it was Sun-mi who had tipped off Philip. He confronted the head trainer, who informed Sun-mi that she had been paid and that the other employees would soon receive their dues. Furthermore, he revealed that she had been shortlisted for a trainer position at their Bali center. After making her sign a document confirming receipt of the money, Sun-mi expressed her delight and told Philip to forget about her favor. The head trainer then informed Sun-mi that the gym was undergoing disinfection and she would need to find alternative accommodation that night.

Si-on arrived at work to find Philip cooking fried chicken, which turned out to be a lesson Shin had given him as it was Ye-na and Si-on's grandmother's favorite dish. They cooked together, and as they did so, Philip shared his troubles with Sun-mi. Si-on's anger towards him gradually subsided. When they delivered the chicken to Sun-mi at the gym, they discovered that she had been locked out and the gym appeared to have been emptied while she was away.

Choi Chul received a call from the detective in charge of Cha So-yeon's case. The detective informed him that Chul's business card had been found in her pocket, making him a suspect. Chul begged for the case to be dropped, but it was too late; Cha So-yeon's husband had already called Choi Chul himself. He revealed that the last person to speak with So-yeon was the Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Lee Heo-jun. After speaking with So-yeon, Director Lee had called her husband and instructed him to check on So-yeon immediately. Chul tried to reach the director but he was busy at the moment.

Shin shared with Chul the payments made in 2009, which Chul remembered coincided with two accidents. As Chul was about to meet Director Lee at his house, he witnessed Dong-hee attacking the director with a knife. Chul intervened and thwarted the attack, while Shin arrived and chased after Dong-hee but found himself unable to open his car door as he had fled back inside.
