In the opening scene of Episode 2 of "Sold Out On You," Ye-jin and Matthew engage in a tense standoff as their vehicles block each other's path on a narrow street. Ye-jin, seemingly exhausted, eventually gives in and attempts to reverse her car, but one of its wheels gets stuck in the soil. Frustrated, she gives up and starts walking into the village, leaving Matthew to figure out his own way out. He drives through the narrow space, breaking one of the car's sideview mirrors in the process.

After a while, Matthew and his tractor follow the same road that Ye-jin is walking on. She assumes he's following her and is quite rude to him until she sees the white mushrooms in his tractor! She introduces herself and asks to speak to the owner, but he locks the door in her face.

Matthew then walks through the greenhouse, where quite a few of the townspeople from Episode 1 are working. While leaving the greenhouse, Matthew sees Ye-jin again. She asks for a pair of slippers if nothing else, pointing towards her feet, which have blisters on them from her high heels. He gives her a pair of old and broken slippers which she reluctantly accepts.

Ye-jin gets back to her car and is shocked to see the broken sideview mirror. She calls for car assistance but they say it will take three hours. Since she has a show that evening, she decides to go back to Seoul by bus instead.

As Matthew and his companions drive past her, Ye-jin runs after them, eager for a ride. Despite his initial indifference, Matthew is forced to stop when Ye-jin falls down. With determination, she hops on and manages to reach the bus terminal. Ye-jin and the older women board the bus, but the driver pulls away too quickly, causing one of the women to fall. Matthew, with a mixture of frustration and authority, forces the driver to stop and gives him a piece of his mind. In the process, he also gains some respect from Ye-jin.

Meanwhile, Eric's secretary conducts a thorough background check on Ye-jin. He presents Eric with proof of the incident involving Ye-jin and Song Myeong-hwa. At HIT, Director Dong and Myeong-hwa meet to discuss Ye-jin's return to the company. Director Dong mentions that it's been five years since "that incident" and that she wants Ye-jin to bring L'Etoile in. Myeong-hwa is upset by this and walks out in a fit of anger.

A flashback shows Ye-jin and Myeong-hwa selling a product called Good Morning cream. However, harmful ingredients are soon found in the cream, leading to painful rashes for the consumers. Elsewhere, Ji Yun-ji goes to a luxury bag store to look for bags she can sell. But she gets annoyed when she learns that all the good ones have been taken by Ye-jin. She returns to the office, where Director Dong has already put up advertisements of Ye-jin's collaboration with L'Etoile. Yun-ji is frustrated, and Ye-jin herself says she hasn't agreed to this. Seeing Ye-jin's hesitation to own the deal, Director Dong reminds her that her colleagues are relying on her.

Meanwhile, Eric Seo receives a package of vinyl records from his sister. He plays one of them, which triggers a memory. A flashback shows Eric walking in the rain when Ye-jin suddenly joins him under his umbrella. They walk and talk and then decide to meet at a restaurant the following day. However, Ye-jin doesn't show up, leaving Eric waiting for her.

In Deokpung, one of the elders - Mrs Yang - recognizes Ye-jin on the home shopping show. She makes Matthew help her buy the portable bathtub that Ye-jin is selling. He uses his own information on the website and ends up winning a prize in HIT's lottery - he wins an extra bathtub!

Ye-jin arrives back in Deokpung and gives Mrs Yang her bathtub. Since the buyer's name was listed as Lee ***-seok (with the middle name hidden), Mrs Yang gives her an address to deliver the extra bathtub. This leads her to Matthew's house, where Ye-jin assumes Mr Lee must be his father. Matthew doesn't explain any further and tells her to leave.

Ye-jin returns to Mrs Yang's house. When she learns that the older woman works on a mushroom farm, she asks if she can stay the night. Later, Mrs Yang mistakenly lets her chickens out of the barn. Ye-jin chases one all the way to Matthew's house. When Matthew catches Ye-jin trying to climb his fence, he gets the police involved. However, she shows him footage of his tractor breaking her sideview mirror and he is forced to relent. Instead, they settle on a written agreement in which he promises to pay her for the car repairs if she agrees to never visit his house again.

That evening, Mu-won pays a visit to Matthew, determined to persuade him to revisit the magic of the mushrooms and leave the memories of "that day" behind. Yet, Matthew, steadfast in his refusal, refuses to budge. Later in the day, Ye-jin, this time at the farm, comes calling. She's overwhelmed by the place, despite Matthew's earnest attempts to make her leave. There's something in the way he works with mushrooms that captivates Ye-jin, who promptly calls Director Dong to inform her of her decision to helm the L'Etoile launch.

That night, as is customary, Ye-jin finds it impossible to doze off. Meanwhile, Matthew's phone is incessantly buzzing with messages from Mu-won, urging him to "give it another shot." So much so that he eventually changes his phone number online. Despite this, a call comes through. To his surprise, it's Ye-jin, tears streaming down her face as she seems to be trying to reach out to her mother.
