Episode 4 commences with Matthew's swift intervention as he rescues Ye-jin from a moving vehicle. She appears to be in a trance, oblivious to his words. Noticing her bare feet, he thoughtfully buys her slippers and escorts her back to her apartment, where he ensures she rests on the sofa and tidies up the mess left by the shattered vase. The next morning, Ye-jin awakens with no recollection of the previous day's events.
In Deokpung, Som-yi borrows money from Matthew, inadvertently witnessing his research on Ye-jin. Back in the city, Ye-jin realizes she's gaining weight due to Mrs. Yang's exquisite culinary delights. Her colleagues, Sung-mi and Ki-hong, bring her good news - L'Etoile has emptied an entire warehouse to store the essence for sale on HIT, adding pressure on Ye-jin to secure Gojeuneok's cooperation.
In Deokpung, Som expresses her concern to Mrs. Yang about Ye-jin potentially taking Matthew away from Jin-yi. Ye-jin herself arrives, seeking Matthew. She learns he's harvesting corn that day and joins Mrs. Yang and the other villagers in the fields. They toil under the blazing sun, and during a snack break, Jin-yi and Ae-ra (a fellow Deokpung resident whom Kwang-mo has a crush on) arrive.
At this juncture, Matthew receives a distressing message from Mrs. Yang's son-in-law, who had planned to buy the corn for his makgeolli brewery but now finds himself in dire financial straits and unable to purchase it. He tells Matthew to send the workers home and promises to find a new buyer. Ye-jin steps forward and suggests live streaming the corn sale.
Back at the office, Yun-ji shows Director Dong Ye-jin's live stream promotion, but the director remains unperturbed. The live stream commences, and Ye-jin swiftly sells all 3,000 boxes within minutes. Everyone celebrates until Ye-jin suddenly collapses, diagnosed with heatstroke at the hospital.
Meanwhile, Matthew assists Mrs. Yang's son-in-law by providing financial aid and gives Ye-jin her share of the earnings. She faints again and requests glucose tablets from her bag. Since she declares she needs to rest, he picks her up from the floor and places her on the sofa, revealing the impact she's having on him.
Elsewhere, Sung-mi arrives in Deokpung and makes the same mistake as Ye-jin by driving down a one-way street. Her car gets stuck in the mud, but Kwang-mo lifts it out with his bare hands. Sung-mi then retrieves Ye-jin and drives her back to the city.
Ye-jin sets out for a coffee shop in search of a pick-me-up, where Eric's secretary catches a glimpse of her. Hearing of this, Eric descends to the café, feigning a work-related errand nearby. As time passes, he realizes she's vanished and embarks on a search. As the heavens open up and rain begins to pour, she reappears, shielding him with an umbrella that she had earlier found him with—the first product she sold out on her show. He invites her out for dinner, but she demurs, stating that she doesn't date anyone from work. They agree to dine together once the deal between their companies is finalized.
At home, Matthew uses Mrs. Yang's phone to call Ye-jin, reminding her of her sleep medicines. They settle on a meeting halfway. However, Kwang-mo calls Matthew away for an emergency at the mushroom farm where moisture has infiltrated, threatening the mushrooms' survival.
Meanwhile, Ye-jin arrives at the rest stop they'd chosen. As she enters the toilet, she drops her car keys and loses them. Furthermore, her phone is locked inside the car. After attending to the mushrooms, Matthew rushes towards the rest stop where shops are slowly shutting down for the night. This triggers memories from Ye-jin's childhood where she waited for her mother who never showed up. When Matthew finally arrives, she's in tears and hugs him out of relief. After a moment, he returns the embrace.
Once she's composed, she asks for her medicines. He hands over one of the packets and promises to return one every day. He instructs her to meet him every night. A flashback reveals Ye-jin speaking to her "mother," sharing about Matthew and how he makes her feel safe. Matthew listens intently before leaving her house.
