Episode 7 of Stranger Things: Tales From '85 unfolds with the gang at school, frantically trying to outrun a menacing mutant. Just before they flee, they realize they can't abandon Charlie and head back to save him. As the storm intensifies, El is left at home, twiddling her thumbs. Eventually, she decides to venture out and find Mike, donning her blindfold and using her powers to track him down. Knowing he's in trouble, El braces herself against the storm and heads out, eventually using a stray street sign as a makeshift toboggan.

Meanwhile, Jeff runs away while Lucas and Max manage to escape the sewer. However, they can't get any signal, so they head to the top of the nearby water tower to try and communicate with the others. Dustin finds refuge at the Food Mart, where he learns that Daniel Baxter was actually a scientist at Hawkins Lab. He was also a founding member of the Scientific Progress Committee. Apparently, he never managed to make it big and left with little to show for his efforts except for a commemorative watch.
At the school, there's a problem. The creature manages to grab Charlie, but the others save him before it's too late. However, he's caught in a weird trance, and it seems like the creature is connected to him in some way. The kids realize they need to take down the creature and get the walkie back. Nikki comes up with an idea, and given that they're currently holed up in the lab, she rustles up something to help save them and destroy the creature. She creates a makeshift bomb called a Taser Tot to help turn the tide.
However, El is also inbound, but she needn't bother as Nikki's weapons manage to kill the creature. In the aftermath of this, Charlie comes out of his entranced state, and Nikki joins the group. Just like that, El arrives at the school and reunites with Mike. But it seems like there are more creatures inbound at the Food Mart...
