On November 12th, 1984, the sixth episode of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 commences. Scientists decide to conduct an experiment on the remnants of the vines, taking them to a secret laboratory and injecting them with a peculiar liquid. This ties into the beginning of the first episode, where we witness one of these creatures releasing spores into the atmosphere.
Next, we jump to January 15th, 1985. At Hawkins Middle School, Mrs. Baxter practices her newly-developed serum in an attempt to revive plants and produce. Meanwhile, Nikki is feeling down and wishes to leave Hawkins after the recent drama with the gang.
The group opens the tip-box they have and celebrates when they find it completely empty. However, there's still the issue of Nikki to contend with. Will wants to invite her into the new Dungeons & Dragons campaign as he's about to become the new Dungeon Master, but Mike isn't so sure. When Will loses control and pulls the fire alarm, he, Mike, and Nikki all end up in detention together. Oh, and Charlie is also there.
Outside, Lucas and Max come across a kid who needs help retrieving his ball from the sewer. As they head in to take a look, Dustin and Rosario spend some time together too.
En route to Rosario's to get Dustin's jacket back, the pair realize they have a lot in common. Not only that but Rosario has been experiencing some pretty horrific visions. She's seeing flashes of a blurry X with a floating red light above it.
The pair decide to go on a hunt and try to find the location of this weird X, but she's not the only one. Charlie is also drawing the same thing while he sits in detention. That is, until Nikki ignores Will and Mike and decides to arm wrestle with the kid. Nikki obviously beats Charlie effortlessly.
Nikki eventually agrees to help the gang for El's sake, and off they go. In the hallway, Mike apologizes for his previous words about her ruining everything.
Down in the sewers, Max and Lucas find themselves facing another strange mutant. They manage to thwart it, bringing Jeff out in the process. However, it's not alone as another creature hones in on Hawkins Middle School, where it ends up consuming the Coach. Naturally, the mutant winds up stalking them, threatening to attack at any moment.
