The sale draws nigh, and Logan ponders why every soul inquiries about his well-being. Kendall longs for the hard-hitting international news, while Shiv scoffs, comparing it to a homework assignment come to life.

Succession – Season 4 Episode 2 1

Shiv's phone rings, alerting her of attorney conflicts arising. Greg calls Tom with a message, and soon, Logan's imposing figure strides into view. He meanders ominously, sunglasses obscuring his gaze, as if Santa Claus had a sinister twin.

Shiv urgently calls Tom, informing him that all the top divorce attorneys are recusing themselves from her case. Could it be that Logan has already met with all of them? She demands that he relay a message to Logan: Stay away and let her live her life.

Once Waystar fades into oblivion, ATN will become her new home, and Logan's constant presence will be a reality. Logan inquiries about Kerry's audition tape for an anchor position, prompting Roman, Shiv, and Kendall to view the tape with a touch of embarrassment.

Shiv calls Sandy, hoping to reschedule a meeting, but they must attend Connor's wedding rehearsal. Logan requests Tom to sprinkle a bit of charm into his introduction, boasting of a 15% year-on-year increase but questioning if 15 truly equates to 40. He demands more from them and vows to be present more often, declaring his undying love for the business.

Logan commandeers the helicopter, denying the kids a ride. Sandy and Stewie wish to meet but are dismissed. They have moved on. As Logan enters the room, Hugo and Gerri are caught in a fit of laughter, sensing his agitated state.

Stewie and Sandy are poised to vote against the deal, believing they can extract more from the Swede. They must weigh the option of returning to the Swede against the risk of blowing everything up.

At the rehearsal, Willa descends the stairs, seeking a drink. Roman wonders if the ceremony has already begun. Willa confesses that everything feels unusually vivid today, a sign that she is on the verge of a panic attack.

Shiv hesitated, pondering if ascending the stairs was truly worth it. Her doubts swirled, yet Roman and Kendall boldly forged ahead. As Willa rose to deliver her speech, she faltered, declaring her incapability and retreating to seek solace with her friends. Roman fumed, suggesting showering her with more money, deeming her behavior unacceptable. Shiv desired a regrouping, yet Roman's ire flared. Connor's expression was grim. Shiv's urge to engage in further discussion was evident in her words. Connor longed for karaoke, while Roman desired anything but.

Connor sought refuge in a workingmen's bar, eyes glued to Willa's phone as Roman's insults escalated, accusing her of seeking younger, more virile companions. Lukas's call to Kendall rang out, warning of his impending departure if further pressure was exerted. Kendall paused, messaging Stewie for the necessary compensations.

Tom and Greg revisited Kerry's segment, Tom spotting a loophole involving Greg's subtle revelation to Kerry of her unsuitability. Shiv's eagerness to address the situation was met with Roman's suggestion of involving Connor. Their strategy aimed to coerce Logan into groveling, yet his messages to Roman interrupted their plans. Roman confessed to texting Logan on his birthday, revealing multiple messages. Kendall's "take care" note left Shiv and Kendall feeling betrayed.

Shiv recounted Logan's manipulation of Tom, leaving her with no legal options. Roman warned of Lukas's possible departure, his concern genuine yet dismissed by the others. Their inaction threatened to sabotage the deal. Greg cornered Kerry, attempting to discuss the tape, but her reluctance was evident. He disclosed whispers of the focus group's opinion, advising her of potential improvements in a few years.

Logan, aware of his children's schemes, perceived their influence as significant. Connor betrayed his siblings, leading to Logan's arrival. As Connor sang, Logan entered the karaoke pod, lights flashing, Logan warning of a potential seizure.

They conspired to oust Kerry, yet she clung to her position. Kendall fired back at Logan, demanding a swift "New York, New York" and a swift exit. Shiv retorted with a suggestion of "The Girl from Ipanema." Logan sighed, wishing his children were present at his gala. He proposed a deal: if they voted yes, he'd ensure ATN's success, they'd secure Pierce, and the family would be reset.

Barbs were exchanged, and Roman revealed the real culprit for the mess—their mother's antics in Italy. Logan's feeble attempt at an apology fell flat, and Kendall lambasted him for his mistreatment of Connor, his mother, and Roman. Shiv called him out on his misguided advice to Tom.

Logan insisted Mattson would bolt if they dragged him into this, and Shiv retorted he was just a human gaslighter. His words didn't necessarily ring true. Logan pleaded for unity, claiming it was a sound deal, but good deals often falter when Mattson-like figures are offended or snubbed.

Shiv wasn't convinced and urged him to squeeze more money from Mattson. It was her intuition, her only compass. Logan scolded them, calling them dopes and amateurs. He loved them, but they lacked gravitas. He abruptly ended the meeting, saying he needed to see Mattson. He specified who would attend the next round.

Connor announced his disdain for love before leaving, leaving a somber drive home for the rest. Upon arrival, Connor found Willa already asleep.

Roman headed to Logan's abode. Logan chuckled, knowing their true nature. He revealed his plan: he wanted Roman to accompany him to see Mattson the following day. Logan needed a ruthless individual who wouldn't hesitate to boost ATN's standing when he disposed of Cyd. He didn't merely want Roman at ATN; he desperately needed him.
