Succession – Season 4 Episode 3 1

Connor's wedding is a spectacle, held at the foot of The Statue of Liberty. Greg, unfortunately, finds himself uninvited, a consequence of his indiscretion with Carrie. Tom confides that Logan finds Greg's presence visually displeasing these days, and with a plethora of others willing to "Greg" for him, he's deemed expendable.

Logan declares that today marks the day Gerri and Cyd receive their just desserts. Shiv approaches Roman, inquiring if the Mattson deal will sail smoothly. Tom's call interrupts, querying Roman's progress. Once the call ends, Roman approaches Gerri, who senses the impending storm. She suggests a talk once they embark on their journey, but Roman's tone is grim. Gerri's eyes well up with tears, and Roman's aren't far behind.

Connor is displeased with the cake, deeming it inadequate. He desires it as a mere display, a mere token. Roman reaches for Logan's line, his voice tinged with concern. He wonders if Logan's harshness stems from his own shortcomings. The moment the call ends, Kendall steps in with a brotherly gesture.

Kendall reminisces about the time when they took Connor's mother, offering him cake as a consolation while she was sent away. This has left Connor with a complex relationship with cake. Shiv learns of Logan's impending trip to Stockholm and wonders if the issue couldn't have been resolved over the phone.

Greg attempts to offer congratulations to Shiv and Kendall, but their hearts are elsewhere. Tom's calls to Shiv go unanswered, the urgency in his voice escalating. Connor speculates that Dad is on his way.

Tom's next call to Roman is fraught with panic. Logan is gravely ill, unresponsive. Tom informs them they're performing chest compressions, and Karl offers a glimmer of hope, suggesting Logan might be breathing now. The cabin staff receives medical advice from a remote service, and Frank urges them to speak to Logan, fearing it may be their last chance.

Tom positions Roman and Kendall close to Logan's ear as they continue the compressions. Roman speaks to him, his voice filled with emotion, while Kendall remains silent. Roman then hands the phone to Kendall, who finally finds his voice. "We love you, Dad. It's okay. I can't forgive you, but... yeah. It's okay, and I love you." Kendall rushes to fetch Shiv, his nose streaming with snot as he approaches her. He struggles to contain his emotions, unable to articulate the gravity of the situation.

As the compressions continued, Shiv spoke to him gently, reassuring him that it was alright, that she loved him dearly. Kendall frantically dialed Jess, informing her that his father was on the verge of passing, yet he had a few urgent matters to arrange. He requested a conference call with his father's doctor and everyone else involved.

Twice now, I found myself so engrossed in the drama that I neglected to jot down the details for this recap, and I apologize for the oversight. News about Logan trickled in sporadically, and Roman struggled to accept that his father was no longer with him. When the final call came, announcing that CPR had been stopped, Roman refused to believe it was over.

With that devastating news, the wedding boat began its journey across the water. Hugo announced that they were drafting a statement, and everyone on the plane scrambled to craft a suitable message. The children, bewildered, wondered who had authorized such a move. Frank attempted to justify their actions, explaining that since the children had been estranged, they felt it was best to take the lead. Kendall quickly corrected him, insisting that they had not been estranged and had even met up the night before.

Tom observed that the children were still processing the situation, while Gerri popped in to offer her condolences. The group considered withholding the news until the market closed, as Gerri emphasized its significance not only on a personal level but also for the company and the world. Shiv, however, was not ready to release the news to the world; she wanted to keep it private for a while longer.

Kendall cautioned Shiv and Roman that every word they spoke would be recorded in federal documents, SEC filings, and more. Their actions today would forever define the day their father passed away. So, while they grieved, they must avoid anything that could restrict their future options.

Gerri returned with Karolina, informing them that a rumor about Logan's health had already spread. They had no idea how it had leaked, but it had. Shiv angrily confronted Tom, accusing him of exploiting her father's death for some unknown agenda. They tried to be respectful of Kendall's situation, but they needed to make decisions quickly.

Kendall hesitated to speak, feeling the weight of the moment. Everyone turned to him expectantly, but he was at a loss for words. They agreed to finalize the sale the following day but to keep their options open for now. Roman struggled to speak to anyone, but Shiv insisted on solidarity. They were all there for each other. Karolina would handle the statement, but they needed to be in control of everything else.

Logan's body arrived, and they gathered to decide on the next steps. Their hearts were heavy with grief.
