Sugar – Season 1 Episode 3 1

Sugar gets wind of the situation through Charlie, a civilian informant who assists him in his investigations. Charlie is currently tailing Melanie and quickly alerts Sugar to the developing drama. Sugar rushes to the scene and senses something amiss. He searches for a way to infiltrate the building, but a sudden, piercing headache assails him, momentarily stymieing his efforts.

Just as the mob boss threatens to feed Teresa's hand into a blender, Sugar manages to force his way inside, posing as a probation officer. Charlie, meanwhile, creates a diversion by tinkering with the boss's prized new truck, providing Sugar with a window of opportunity. Sugar seizes the moment, escaping with Melanie and Teresa in tow.

Elsewhere, Kenny meets with a contact who digs up information on Sugar. Safe and secure, Sugar presses Melanie for details. Melanie reveals that she helped Teresa flee an abusive marriage while working at a shelter. Later, her sister Carmen sought Melanie's assistance in a similar situation. Olivia, another acquaintance, became close to Carmen, but one fateful day, Olivia stumbled upon Clifford dragging a body bag. In a panic, Olivia fired her gun, striking Clifford. Melanie arrived on the scene and they quickly covered up the incident to avoid scandalizing the family. That was the last time Melanie saw Olivia, and Sugar promises to help her find her missing friend.

Meanwhile, Ruby discovers that Kenny's contact, an NSA agent, is accessing Sugar's confidential information. Later, Sugar leaves Wiley in the hotel room and attends the party he'd been invited to. Inside, he finds Ruby and a diverse crowd of people who, like him, speak multiple languages fluently. As he mingles with the guests, Sugar spots a woman and follows her, but his pursuit is interrupted by a man named Henry. When he returns to the room where the woman had disappeared, he finds it empty, leaving him with more questions than answers.

As Sugar and Henry engage in conversation, the crowd gradually ascends the stairs, following Ruby one by one. When Sugar's turn finally arrives, he joins them upstairs, unaware that Ruby has her sights set on his small, black diary. She flips through its pages, her brow furrowing as she finds herself repeating the same admonition - Sugar is too emotionally involved. Their discussion veers into a mysterious "they," an enigma that remains shrouded in secrecy. Sugar inquiries about it, but Ruby only offers a fragment of information, revealing that the gangster's name is Byron Stallings. She presses Sugar to schedule an appointment with Dr. Vickers, her tone urgent.

Elsewhere, David confides in his father, revealing that Sugar belongs to an eclectic group of spies hailing from all corners of the globe. Their mission? To bring about positive change in the world. David adds that he and Kenny are headed to Arizona the following day to visit Sugar's mother.

After the festivities wind down, Ruby dials Vickers' number. Her voice is tense as she informs him that Sugar is delving into Stallings' affairs and is poised to "uncover the rest." Vickers replies that it's high time to inform the others and that "Miller must know."

As Sugar heads home, Ruby swiftly erases all traces of Byron Stallings from her system. Meanwhile, Melanie embarks on a meeting with Bernie Siegel, her intentions unknown.

Later, Ruby returns to the interrogation room, her steps resolute. She begins to type, her fingers flying over the keys as she transcripts the contents of the pile of small, black books - the culmination of Sugar's Episode 3, now immortalized in words.
