Meanwhile, Sugar is determined to find Davy and interrogate him about Olivia. Upon visiting the Siegel household, he stumbles upon Lorraine's bedroom, preserved as it was in her lifetime. It becomes apparent to Sugar that the photos of Lorraine were captured within this room.

Unfortunately, Sugar cannot interrogate Jonathan as he lies unconscious in bed. Bernie offers to pay him the remainder of his fee, freeing him to pursue other matters, but Sugar remains committed to the case. He even ventures to Margit's house in search of David, but both parents shield him from Sugar's inquiries.

Eventually, Davy emerges and agrees to speak with Sugar. He confesses to having heard about a man, Byron Stallings, who could procure girls for him. Davy mentioned to Byron that Olivia had been urging Taylor, the sexual assault victim, to sue him. He had hoped Byron would intimidate her, but now fears he may have gone too far.

Elsewhere, Melanie confides in a friend about Olivia and Sugar. She professes trust in Sugar but reveals she doesn't feel romantically inclined towards him. Unbeknownst to her, Charlie watches her depart.

Meanwhile, Ruby drives to a remote location, meeting a man named Miller. She expresses concern that Sugar might uncover something, revealing her worries about new methods and people she's unsure about. Miller advises her to ensure that Sugar remains in the dark.

As one of Stallings' men unexpectedly appeared brandishing a gun, Melanie hurriedly made her way home. Charlie, vigilant as ever, stood guard outside, unaware of the approaching danger. Shortly after, Sugar arrived on the scene and joined Charlie, but both were clueless as to what was unfolding.

Inside, Melanie managed to barricade herself safely in the bathroom, her heart pounding as she listened to the commotion outside. Meanwhile, Sugar was about to drive off when he recognized the man's truck. Without hesitation, he turned back and, in a fit of bravery, confronted the gangster. Melanie and Charlie, realizing the danger Sugar was putting himself in, quickly intervened to prevent him from escalating the situation further.

Later, Sugar suggested that Melanie stay at the hotel for the night, a safe haven from the unrest outside. They arrived at the hotel, and Sugar apologized for his earlier impulsive actions.

Elsewhere, in the desolate landscape of Mexico, a bus carrying a group of young men and women rumbled to a halt on an empty ground. Stallings awaited them there, his gaze fixed on the newcomers. Without mercy, he selected a handful of women and ordered them to board a van, despite the pleas and protests of their families.

Davy and Margit found themselves engrossed in a discussion about one of his older movies, a hit in its time. As Margit retired to bed, Davy reached into a box and retrieved a small gun. He pressed it against his temple, a moment of despair overcome by his parents' frantic rush to the hospital.

In the stillness of the night, Sugar lay on the floor beside the couch where Melanie reclined, though far from sleep. He whispered that he had a secret, a burden he carried. Melanie, intrigued, begged him to share it, but he shook his head, unable to utter the words that might shatter the fragile peace of Sugar Episode 5.
