In the fifth episode of Tehran season 3, the plot thickens as Mossad frantically scrambles, having lost sight of Tamar. It soon becomes apparent that Faraz has found her, following in the footsteps of Ramin, and he's not playing around. He calls Yulia to strike a bargain. He demands safe passage and new identities out of Iran for himself and his wife, including asylum in Norway. In return, he'll reveal all he knows about the Sepah Operations. Nahid, unfortunately, is set to be collateral damage here, but Yulia promises to kidnap and take her if Faraz should trick or betray them.

Tehran – Season 3 Episode 5 1

A tactical team is dispatched to Faraz's apartment, while they also work on discovering where Peterson will be transferred to. For the time being, Peterson teams up with Issa to try and save their injured man, Said, whose life is still hanging by a thread. Peterson, with his experience as a field medic in the Border War in Angola, recognizes the severity of the injury. It's not pretty.

The Owl shows up and takes Faraz to a secluded warehouse, where he's tied up and locked inside. The real play here is on Peterson, whom they have a lead on. While they leave, Faraz effortlessly manages to break free from his cable ties and works to find a way out. It doesn't take him long, and he begins catching up with Tamar.

Meanwhile, the Owl and Tamar wait for Ramin to leave with Peterson, intending to get the jump on them. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done. There's also a military convoy en route to their location and they're only 9 minutes out too, so they have no choice but to go in themselves and get the jump on the group. While the Owl and Tamar sneak in upstairs, Issa and Ramin wind up in a heated conversation. They argue over what to do with Eric Peterson, but when the bullets start flying, they don't have time to finish that chat. Tamar and the Owl shoot Issa, take Peterson, and hold Ramin at gunpoint until the guards arrive. When they do, they sneak out through the tunnels, evading the guards.

It's a tense situation, but the trio manages to escape just before suspicion falls on them. Eric Peterson, however, has been shot, grazing his neck, leaving him in shock. Peterson soon realizes that they're Mossad agents due to their ruthless efficiency.

Peterson has a storied history, and it's revealed that he was also involved in Israel's nuclear program in the 1980s. This means he might have shared information with Iran.

Meanwhile, Mossad decides to work with Faraz. This means Tamar needs to hand Peterson over in person, which means she'll be going back home. For now, this is a bittersweet goodbye between the Owl and Tamar, who have made quite the surprising team given how they started out. There's a mutual respect here, especially as the Owl has saved her life several times now.

In his absence, both Tamar and Peterson reflect on their similarities, especially in their desire to make a difference for their countries. Similarly, they're both leaving Iran on unfinished business. Unfortunately, neither of them is aware that Faraz is lurking outside. However, the real threat is inside the house.

When Tamar turns her back, wondering why Ramin called Sepah, her answer soon comes. Eric Peterson grabs the kettle, smacks it over Tamar's head, takes her gun, and reveals, "I'm afraid that was me."
