The Assassin – Season 1 Episode 6 1

The reasoning behind Marie's capture of Edward gradually unfolds. Marie is revealed to be not Edward's birth mother; instead, she and her husband, Jean-Luc, had entrusted their hopes to a surrogate. Jean-Luc poured his heart and soul into nurturing Edward, a bond Marie endured out of love for her husband. However, this equilibrium was shattered when Julie murdered Jean-Luc, left Marie for dead, and abducted Edward. Consumed by vengeful intentions, Marie vowed to reclaim what was taken from her.

Tragically, Marie was trapped in a coma for an extended period. Upon her eventual recovery, she embarked on a mission to fulfill her vow. She now unveils to Edward the tragic tale of his father and how Aaron Cross orchestrated Jean-Luc's murder. Her narration is laden with accusations, particularly emphasizing Aaron Cross's role as Kayla's father.

Elsewhere, Luka and Julie keep a vigilant watch on their target house from a distance, awaiting the cover of darkness to strike. As they endure the wait, Julie confesses to occasionally grappling with the moral implications of her actions. She has learned to compartmentalize her targets as mere tasks, a coping mechanism that has made her existence more bearable.

As dusk began to cloak the sky, Julie crept stealthily into the eerie mansion, while Luka, stationed in the distance, silently offered his support, having discreetly informed Kayla of their hiding place earlier. Determined to rescue Edward, Kayla had struck a deal with Ezra, the new CEO of CGM. In exchange for his assistance, Ezra demanded that Kayla keep the past misdeeds of their parents concealed. Meanwhile, deep within the mansion, Julie stumbled upon Marie's poignant artworks, which resonated deeply with her, revealing the extent of Marie's suffering. Yet, her mission to save Edward was paramount, leaving little room for contemplation. Julie navigated through the shadowy corridors, ultimately planting a bomb in Marie's art studio. Her urgency escalated as she frantically searched for Edward.

Simultaneously, Edward seized Julie's infiltration as his golden opportunity for escape, launching a sudden assault on Marie. Their paths converged in a dimly lit hallway, eyes locking in a tense standoff. Julie, laden with guilt, apologized to Edward, anguishing over the pain she had inflicted upon him and the loss of his father. She beseeched him to trust her, insisting that her only intention was to escape with him, far from this place. However, Marie had already poisoned Edward, the toxin spreading through his veins, hindering his movements.

As the situation grew increasingly dire, Kayla arrived with her bodyguards at the nick of time. Marie proposed a deal: Edward must terminate Julie himself in exchange for the antidote. Edward, however, resolutely refused Marie's offer, furiously dispatching her. Elsewhere in the mansion, Luka encountered an assassin who had once slain his closest friend on the island. Rage and the thirst for revenge burned within him, yet he found himself unable to pull the trigger. Ultimately, Kayla's men subdued the assassin. Kayla swiftly arranged for a helicopter to rush the gravely ill Edward to the hospital, while a contrite Julie declined to accompany him.

As for Aaron, his fate was sealed in tragedy. However, his lawyer harbored doubts, privately pondering whether Ezra was intricately linked to his father's demise.

In the closing chapters of "The Assassin," three months have elapsed since the turbulent events that tested their resolve. Edward, accompanied by Kayla and Julie, embarks on a journey across the vast oceans to reunite with his estranged birth mother. Through an unspoken resolution, Edward manages to reconcile with Julie, extending to her an olive branch of forgiveness and a fresh start. Meanwhile, in a poignant gesture, Ezra consigns his mother's letter to the flames, symbolizing his letting go of the past and moving forward.
