Episode 2 of The Bear Season 3 kicks off with a familiar morning tussle between Sydney and her father over bathroom usage. She promptly heads out for her shift at the restaurant. At The Bear, Carmy has crafted a meticulous list of prerequisites for the restaurant's success. Natalie enters, her mind clouded with concerns about the prospect of raising a child. She casts a dubious eye on the list, but Carmy stands firm, arguing that these are the hallmarks of any great restaurant.

Sydney's arrival is punctuated by a shocked gasp as she surveys the array of dishes Carmy has prepared, essentially reshaping her menu. She's displeased by the inclusion of a daily changing menu in the non-negotiables. Carmy calmly informs her that he's sent a partnership contract, equally dividing the stakes between himself, Natalie, and Sydney. However, her reaction falls far from elation.

Richie enters, his sarcastic wit intact as he offers his take on the controversial list. His resentment towards Carmy still simmers, and the two clash in a brief but intense exchange. Meanwhile, the Fak brothers are busy charging a tube light, and Gary receives news that he's been selected for wine school.

As arguments flare over the sanity of a changing menu, Richie unexpectedly brings up Claire's name. Intrigued, the others press Carmy for details. He reluctantly reveals that he's told Claire that their relationship was a futile pursuit.

Just then, Marcus strides into the kitchen, declaring his intention to work without distractions. This sentiment resonates with the crew, and they disperse to their respective tasks. Carmy approaches Marcus, trying to persuade him not to repeat his past mistake of avoiding difficult issues, as he did after Michael's passing. Marcus insists that being in the kitchen during his mother's death was a comfort, and this place is his home. He asks Carmy to ensure that The Bear reaches its full potential by the end of Season 3 Episode 2.
