Episode 2 of The Chair Season 1 kicks off with the internet exploding over Bill's embarrassing lecture blunder. The aftermath of his previous episode's gesture leaves him in a precarious position. Meanwhile, Ju-Ju's new babysitter situation goes haywire when she walks in on the unfamiliar woman in the bathroom.

Back on campus, Ji-Yoon is deeply concerned about the lack of diversity in her department. She's eager to recruit more minorities, yet she's warned by a male faculty member that it might create turmoil within the group. Suddenly, Ji-Yoon is thrust into the spotlight and expected to address the issues at a dinner that evening. However, at the last moment, she evades the spotlight and selects Yasmin McKay to deliver the prestigious lecture.

Unbeknownst to Ji-Yoon, Ju-Ju has vanished, having fled her grandfather's house with the intention of walking home. As Ji-Yoon reprimands her daughter for this reckless act, Ju-Ju erupts in anger, claiming that Ji-Yoon is not her real mother. Amidst this emotional turmoil, Ji-Yoon decides to lighten the mood and suggests a bowling trip for the group.

Meanwhile, Bill's controversial gesture continues to gather momentum online, trending like wildfire. On their way home, the chaos escalates as Ji-Yoon accidentally runs over Bill's foot. Despite the palpable chemistry between them, they decide to put a halt to any romantic notions for the time being.

At work, Ji-Yoon's focus is disrupted by a barrage of urgent text messages. Bill storms into the room, declaring himself a valuable asset to the university. However, their conversation is drowned out by the protests raging outside. Angry students, armed with placards, demand the dismissal of "Professor Hitler" in the wake of the classroom incident.
