The spotlight shifts to Bill's disciplinary hearing, where Ji-Yoon staunchly supports him, printing glowing recommendations while overlooking the critiques. Larson's concern grows as he questions her emotional involvement and failure to consider the broader implications. Amidst the current campus scandal, Ji-Yoon's position becomes increasingly precarious.

Throughout the season, an uneasy tension has hovered between Daphne and Bill. Unexpectedly, Daphne visits Bill's home, shedding her jacket and settling on the sofa. Bill is instantly alarmed, assuming she intends to seduce him, but she reveals her true intention: to have him read her novel. Alongside her manuscript falls a newspaper, its headline screaming Ji-Yoon's scandal. Oblivious to the rumors, Bill rushes out upon reading the news.

Bill rushes to Ji-Yoon's place with a bold plan. He intends to sue the faculty and use the settlement money to pursue studies in Paris, enticing Ji-Yoon and Ju-Jo to join him. The pair are so enamored by the idea that they share a kiss outside. However, Ji-Yoon pulls away, accusing Bill of using Sharon's death as a shield for his self-destructive tendencies. Though Ji-Yoon's assessment is spot on, Bill is unable to accept it and angrily accuses her of being the dean's lackey.

The hearing commences, and as Bill speaks, Ji-Yoon realizes the need to consider the bigger picture. Acknowledging her bias, she deems the procedure unfair and withdraws, leaving the decision to the others. Inevitably, Bill is dismissed, while Ji-Yoon narrowly escapes a vote of no confidence, winning 6-5. Despite retaining her position, Ji-Yoon opts to relinquish it, passing the baton to Joan. The students seem pleased with this decision, and with Bill's absence, the future seems promising.

Outside campus, Bill confronts Ji-Yoon. Despite securing a settlement and a considerable amount of money, he rejects it, choosing instead to fight for his job. With no salary to support his daughter, Bill remains steadfast, refusing to give up on teaching. He has enough funds to sustain him until Friday, when Ji-Yoon offers him $12 an hour for babysitting duties.
