As the curtains rise on another installment of "The Cleaning Lady," Fiona (Martha Millan) steps into the shower, her voice tinged with the poignant realization that she feels hollowed out, devoid of all that once mattered. Emerging from the steam-laden confines, she finds solace in Thony's (Elodie Yung) tender care for her wounds, a routine Thony knows like the back of her hand. Yet, this time, the stakes were higher; Fiona had teetered on the brink of losing her cherished son.

The Cleaning Lady – Season 3 Episode 5 1

Luca's voice rises in a frenzy of protest, and Thony dashes to his side, sensing his fear of being reclaimed by Susan. She assures him that Susan's visit is merely for tomorrow, but her own uncertainty about their future clouds her reassurance. Fiona, steeling herself, admits her desperate acts to return home without Armand's shadow looming over them. Thony confides that they've discovered the van responsible, with traces of a sinister drug known as Devil's Breath.

Jorge Sanchez (Santiago Cabrera) embarks on a quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding this nefarious substance. He confronts a shadowy figure and demands information on Dragan, the supposed purveyor of Devil's Breath, who turns out to be a man found at a construction site near the 215. In a violent confrontation, Jorge and his allies extract every ounce of information from Dragan about Armand's whereabouts.

JD (Ryan Sands) offers Fiona a shoulder to lean on, grappling with his own 'what-ifs' and vowing never to let her slip through his fingers again. He extends a heartfelt invitation for her to share his home, a sanctuary from their tumultuous past. Fiona, however, decides to check on Thony before Luca's crucial interview. In the heart of their kitchen, she finds Thony poised for action, her resolve wavering only slightly as Jorge phones in with a breakthrough—albeit marred by a mishap. Dante's imminent arrival looms over their conversation, and Thony vows to return swiftly before Susan's visit.

Ramona (Kate del Castillo) berates Jorge for his brash actions, fearing they'll mistake his intentions as an attempt to free Armand without payment, a fatal misstep. Thony enters the fray, insisting the detained man is Armand's captor, but Dante's overzealousness led to his demise. Ramona suggests an alternative course, hinting at an ongoing negotiation with Armand's kidnappers. Thony objects, fearing deceit, but Ramona's authoritarian stance silences her dissent. Left with no choice but to obey, Thony escapes to the comforting embrace of her son—until she realizes Luca is missing.

Chris (Sean Lew) and Jaz (Faith Bryant) share an intimate moment at home, discussing Chris's estranged father. Panic sets in as Thony searches high and low for Luca, Chris confirming he was present just an hour prior. The search intensifies, fueled by dread and urgency. Jorge, engrossed in his own endeavors, still finds time to offer guidance, urging Thony to trust no one but to spare no effort in locating Luca. He promises to inquire with Ramona, despite her possible involvement.

Susan Redman's (Rekha Sharma) timely arrival complicates matters further, as Thony breaks the heart-wrenching news of Luca's disappearance. Susan, offering her support, volunteers to conduct a safety inspection of the house while awaiting Luca's return. Chris and Jaz's efforts to trace Luca yield no fruit, leaving the family's world spun into a whirlwind of despair and desperation.

Chris, believing it best to part ways, rides off, abandoning Jaz. Meanwhile, Thony attempts to occupy Susan with a distraction, showing her Luca's medications. Soon after, Fiona and JD reappear. Fiona reveals she left Luca at the arcade with the children, which arouses Susan's suspicion. JD confesses they last saw Luca some three hours prior and mentions a man in a black BMW lurking outside their house earlier that morning, whom he had managed to note down the license plate of. Suspicious, Susan decides to initiate an AMBER alert.

Once Susan departs, Thony reproaches JD for his actions, albeit acknowledging the logic behind them. She rushes off to find Luca, hoping to thwart further escalations. Jorge, in another part of town, informs Ramona that he has resolved Nadia's claim but wonders why they are paying a ransom when Armand's fate remains uncertain. Ramona hints at leaving, but Jorge insists she stay put. Violeta's interruption prompts Jorge to switch topics, inquiring about Thony's son. Ramona denies any involvement but urges Jorge to retrieve Nadia's cash, emphasizing the need for swift action. As Ramona reads the AMBER alert on her phone, Dante is apprehended by the police.

Fiona presses Thony for the truth regarding the ongoing chaos. Thony concedes their cartel ties and reveals Armand's family's connection to the Sin Cara Cartel. Susan phones Thony to inform her that the police have apprehended the man JD reported, but Luca wasn't with him. Distressed, Jaz confronts Chris, berating him for abandoning her. Chris apologizes, explaining his sudden departure to Manila.

Thony acknowledges the gravity of Dante's arrest but focuses on finding Luca. Receiving no news from Chris, Thony has a revelation and believes she knows Luca's whereabouts. They rush to the aquarium, where Thony finds Luca mesmerized by the turtles, fearing the lady might take him away. Comforting him, Thony calls Susan to cancel the AMBER alert. Susan reproaches Thony for not knowing her son's whereabouts but agrees to meet her at the hearing the next day.

At home, Thony worries that CPS will use the AMBER alert against her and that Dante's arrest will complicate matters further. JD suggests they talk to someone at the station; Thony visits to inquire about Dante's arrest, hoping to drop the charges but to no avail. She then seeks Jorge's help, suggesting he could make the AMBER alert incident disappear. Jorge advises her to use this in her favor during tomorrow's hearing.

At home, Thony packs a bag, determined not to let Luca out of her sight. The following day, Thony enters the courtroom alone, with Fiona and the others defending her. They inform the judge of Thony's unauthorized medication administration to her son. Jorge arrives and confirms the AMBER alert was a mistake. The judge scorns their antics, tolerating no circus in her courtroom.

The judge declares that the issue of abuse lingers in the air, unresolved. Thony rises to her feet, stepping forward to speak in her own defense, elucidating the reasons behind her decision to administer the unapproved medication to Luca. The bench rules that Luca will continue to reside under Thony's custody for the time being, albeit under the watchful eye of Child Protective Services. Outside the courtroom, Thony confronts her son with the verdict, while Jorge looks on intently.

Returning to their home, Jorge finds Ramona involved in hanging a painting. He informs her that he has taken care of Dante's arrest, unaware of the repercussions. She gently reminds him that Dante was their sole conduit for arranging Armand's exchange. His arrest, she laments, caused them to miss the crucial call that would have facilitated Armand's return. Jorge suggests they should no longer capitulate to every whim of their adversaries. Ramona, however, suspects that Jorge is overly influenced by Thony. She insists that Thony must steer clear of any involvement in Armand's affairs, fearing it could place his life in grave danger.

Meanwhile, Thony notices a car pulling up outside as she tends to Luca. She ventures out to express her gratitude to Jorge, who promptly informs her that their troubles run much deeper. He recounts the tale of Dante's arrest and how it thwarted their plans for the exchange. Jorge emphasizes that she must remain on the sidelines to prevent any further complications, warning her that even her son's safety could be compromised. He concedes that he is powerless to stop Ramona from taking Luca if she deems it necessary.
