Episode 7 of "Day of the Jackal" begins its narrative arc anew in Tallinn, where the Jackal convenes with Leonora at the library. He casually mentions the presence of Intelligence agents lurking nearby and requests her assistance in diverting their attention. Leonora, impressed by his foresight, agrees to lend a hand, particularly with the looming arrival of "guns" on Friday, leaving the Jackal under immense pressure to fulfill his obligations. Though he's cautious about entangling himself further, Leonora pulls some strings to slow down MI6's pursuit.
Elsewhere, the Jackal dallies with Rasmus, while Nuria remains engrossed in her turmoil at home. Her family expresses concern for her well-being, yet she persists in信任 her husband despite his blatant infidelity. Pushed by her brother, who demands $40,000 to open the bar they previously discussed, Nuria finds herself in a dilemma. Ultimately, she agrees to let him access Jackal's secret room, albeit reluctantly. Jackal, watching the surveillance footage, notices Alvaro slyly stuffing the gun and money into his pockets, leaving him equally dissatisfied.
The investigation into the dust prints yields no results (apparently, nothing on the hair, DNA, or Jackal's bag), and Bianca's sketch, based solely on a nighttime sighting, bears a scant resemblance to him. Nevertheless, a miraculous twist occurs: the same police officer who questioned Jackal that fateful night recognizes his face from the sketch and reports it.
Just as Bianca and Vince are exiting the building, a hit is ordered on their lives. Narrowly escaping death, they fend off the attackers outside, marking it as a harrowing close encounter. Slightly delayed, they arrive at the apartment to find it deserted, fortunate for Jackal, who's at Rasmus's place.
In a conversation with the Hungarian officer, it transpires that the Jackal once possessed a British passport under the alias Peter. Tracking him down seems like an uphill task, as he takes refuge in the restricted section of the concert hall, perched high and shielded from unsuspecting security intel, using Rasmus's card to breach the secured area. This choice of hideout becomes clearer as Rasmus had previously shown him this very spot during their earlier encounter, thereby contextualizing their romantic entanglement.
His rationale for buying excessive food from the vendor the night before the concert reveals his need to wait for a crucial meeting with UDC the following day. However, the Jackal is haunted by the specters of his past, casting a dark shadow over his present actions.
The persistent flashbacks that have been haunting us originate from a disastrous mission in the Middle East. Although we don't delve much into the specifics of this operation, we can clearly see the turmoil and conflict within Jackal's heart. Nuria, the unpredictable wildcard, was once a vibrant waitress when they first crossed paths. Jackal, believing that this might be the culmination of his journey, can't help but shed a solitary tear.
The fateful day finally arrives, and security is unprecedentedly tight. Bianca scans the crowd, almost catching a glimpse of Jackal's hiding place. Despite the looming tension, the main speech proceeds, and Jackal emerges from his concealment, methodically navigating his way to the designated sniper's nest.
As UDC ascends the stage, enclosed within bulletproof glass, Jackal prepares for the critical shot. The atmosphere is thick with suspense, but suddenly, an unexpected individual rushes onto the stage, disrupting the entire operation. UDC is neutralized, the mission turns into a chaotic disaster, and the arena erupts into a frenzy of panic and confusion.
Despite the turmoil, Jackal manages to slip away unnoticed. However, Rasmus catches sight of his departure and, regrettably, is compelled to choke him unconscious and end his life.
