The Eternaut – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Following the solemn rites, an amicable yet tense disagreement arises between Juan and Elena regarding their next steps in searching for Clara. Elena is resolute in her decision to stay behind and attend to Pablo's needs, while Tano prepares to venture out to procure essential supplies ahead of their impending journey to the island. Before departing, he counsels Ana to assist Juan in scrutinizing the phone book, hoping to uncover Clara's friend's address. Fortunately, the tattered phone book still resides in the dustbin outdoors, and with a stroke of luck, Juan manages to decipher the crucial information.

Lucas accompanies Tano to the supermarket, where they utilize a walkie-talkie to maintain communication with Inga. Inga relays the exciting news that Juan has successfully located the address and is en route to the city center. Lucas's anxiety spikes upon hearing this, prompting him to persuade Tano to lend Juan a hand.

Tano, taking the wheel of his car, intercepts Juan on the way. They concatenate their efforts, deciding to first track down Clara and subsequently proceed to the island. Tano postulates that the ring of radioactive particles enveloping the Earth has been annihilated, positing this as the catalyst behind the lethal snowstorm.

As they traverse their path, they encounter an impassable barrier of crumpled vehicles, blocking their route. Alighting to inspect the obstruction, their attention is drawn to military vehicles approaching from afar. A soldier halts them, instructing them to retreat and steer clear of the downtown area, which has been sealed off.

She reassures them that the government is dispatching aid from Camp De Mayo and urges them to seek refuge in a secure location until further notice. However, her words pique Tano's curiosity, leading them to clandestinely tail the military convoy.

They navigate their way through the bustling downtown area when suddenly, the soldiers unleash a hail of bullets upon them. In a desperate bid to evade the deadly gunfire, Tano swerves the car sharply, only to find themselves confronting colossal, terrifying insects. With utter horror etched on their faces, they witness one of the soldiers being ensnared by the bugs in a spider-like web.

Fortunately, Tano and Juan manage to spot a concealed refuge and dart inside. Once again, Juan's mind wanders, and he is plunged into a vision of blazing flames and figures firing at an unseen target. Snapping out of his trance, they devise a plan to escape.

With caution, they creep out of their hiding spot and realize that the soldiers have vanished without a trace. Seizing the moment, they appropriate the soldiers' ammunition and proceed with renewed determination. They witness, with growing dread, one of the colossal bugs dragging away the ensnared soldier.

As they cautiously advance, Tano inadvertently bumps into something, causing a loud clang that rouses the slumbering insects. Juan, swift and decisive, fires his weapon, felling the awakened bugs. However, their comrades in infernal forms hear the disturbance and emerge, ready for battle.

Tano and Juan bolt, their hearts pounding, until they stumble upon a sanctuary – a church. Within its walls, a mysterious figure emerges to lend them aid, guiding them to a clandestine group hiding within. To their astonishment, Omar is among them, attempting to cast aspersions on Juan and Tano, portraying them as menacing figures.

Juan deftly defuses the tensions, and they settle in among the refugees. They swiftly learn that the insects' arrival is heralded by light. Intrigued, they venture onto the rooftop to uncover the truth behind this eerie claim. Tano, impatient, makes a move to flee, but is halted by a nun's firm grip.

A short while thereafter, another modest contingent arrives, fresh from their forage for provisions and supplies. Juan, eager to pull Tano aside, confides in him his intent to depart from the sanctuary. His resolve to reach Clara is unwavering. Omar approaches him then, unveiling a secret pathway beneath the bridge, disclosed by Rengo, one of their companions. Omar asserts confidently that, despite being sealed, this passage remains a feasible alternate route to bypass the debris impeding their path.

Furthermore, Omar mentions that Rengo recognizes Juan from their military days, though Juan cannot recall ever meeting Rengo. Subsequent to his conversation with Omar, Juan slips away and is plunged into another vision—an army of insects marching relentlessly towards an unseen objective. Upon returning to the church, he discovers the others in heated debate over their next move. Juan interrupts, announcing his discovery of a functional truck and the feasibility of their departure. After a vote, they collectively conclude that it is prudent to relocate before more insects descend upon them.

Later, Juan opens up to Rengo about his visions, to which Rengo expresses empathy, though he himself is devoid of such wartime premonitions. Rengo also reveals that he, along with the nun, intends to remain behind. He fears that his physical impairment might hinder the progress of the others.

As the group hastily packs their belongings, they hastily make their way towards the obstructed passage, taking refuge in a bus while some of the men laboriously breach the wall. Amongst them is a young mother clutching her infant, whose cries nearly awaken the slumbering insects. Fortunately, the men manage to break through the wall at the eleventh hour. However, Juan, the mother, and her baby find themselves momentarily trapped inside the bus.

Upon witnessing their friends ensnared, the nun and Rengo swiftly rang the church bell, its resonant clang echoing through the air and diverting the attention of the relentless bugs. This strategic maneuver enabled Juan and the mother to slip unnoticed into the sanctuary of the passageway, joining the others in their desperate flight.

The bugs, enraptured by the sonorous call, made their way toward the church, where Rengo and the nun stood in steadfast anticipation, their plan already underway. They doused the church interior with paraffin, every surface gleaming under the greasy sheen,耐心等待着那些致命的昆虫大军涌入它们的陷阱。 With cigarettes dangling from their lips, they took one final, reflective puff, and then, with calculated precision, ignited the fuse. The church erupted into a towering inferno, engulfing countless bugs, along with Rengo and the nun, in its fiery embrace.

Having navigated the narrow confines of the passageway, the group arrived at the location where Juan had initially discovered the truck. To their dismay, it was now buried beneath a mountain of debris, presenting yet another hurdle in their harrowing escape. Silently, they attempted to retrieve the vehicle without alerting the slumbering bugs, but their hopes were soon dashed.

Tano's heart raced as he envisioned his life flashing before his eyes, a Bug's mandibles snapping mere inches from his face. Just as despair threatened to consume him, salvation arrived in the nick of time, snatching him from the jaws of certain doom. With a concerted effort, they managed to dislodge the truck and scrambled inside, Juan and a few armed men taking up positions at the rear, ready to repel any encroaching bugs with bullets.

Miraculously, they managed to slip through the bug's grasp unscathed. As they roared away into the distance, Juan cast a poignant glance back at the blazing church, realizing with a shock of recognition that he had foreseen this fiery cataclysm in one of his visions.
