Meanwhile, Miriam struggles with her finances, desperately trying to balance her checkbook but failing miserably. Unable to contain her frustration, she awakens Abe in the dead of night for assistance. With a sea of papers spread before them, Midge receives an invitation to Shy Baldwin's wedding—a mere three days away. Concurrently, Mei and Joel are also deprived of rest. Joel's mother's incessant phone calls and demands to meet Mei finally wear Mei down, and she relents to their meeting.

Rose, on the other hand, is offered a lucrative position as a matchmaker for Solomon Melamid's daughters. Ironically, she who has always meddled in Joel and Miriam's marriage, now stands at the threshold of proving her worth. Upon returning home, Rose notices a stash of papers pertaining to the nightclub hidden in Miriam's drawers. Curious, she confronts Miriam to uncover the mystery behind the papers.

Midge's jokes, filled with crude humor and sarcastic references to Abe and Father's Day, leave Rose with a sour taste in her mouth, causing her to gulp down her drink. That evening, Rose confronts her daughter about her new position. Having promised Solomon not to embarrass him, Miriam's involvement in the strip club puts Rose's job prospects in jeopardy.

Miriam confronts her mother's snooping, and the two women engage in a heated argument. Each believes they have uncovered something significant, leaving them at an uneasy standoff.

As Susie continues her search for a new secretary, she encounters Sophie, who has endured a terrible ordeal—the horror of having to hail her own taxi!

Regardless, Susie successfully arranged a meeting for herself with Mike Carr, the influential figure behind booking acts on The Gordon Ford Show. She sternly advised Sophie to stay true to herself and not sabotage this crucial encounter, even though Mike's impatience was palpable. To their relief, the meeting seemed to unfold smoothly.

Midge and Susie later arrived at Baldwin's wedding with a mischievous plan to deplete his finances, tearing apart canopies, indulging in pricey bar drinks, and mocking Baldwin relentlessly. Shy Baldwin finally emerged with his bride, joining in the crowd's jests onstage, much to Midge's dismay. However, the mood shifted when Harry Belafonte took the stage and began to sing.

Midge eventually caught up with Shy in the bathroom, much to his surprise. Miriam, surprisingly polite, complemented his beautiful wife and his new band. The conversation inevitably turned to Miriam's expulsion from the tour. She apologized profusely, confessing her regret. She explained that she had been desperate for a laugh and had targeted Baldwin in her mockery, realizing it was a grave error. Despite his invitation to join him again, Miriam declined. As she exited, Lou and his associate, Ken, confronted her, offering $2,000 to refrain from disparaging Shy Baldwin about a potential incident on a boat. When the offer rose to $12,000, Susie faltered, but Miriam stood firm, refusing to betray Shy Baldwin. However, she couldn't resist grabbing a stack of goodie bags on her way out.

Meanwhile, Mei prepared nervously for her meeting with Joel's parents. She was frazzled, unable to relax, and overanalyzing every move. Joel tried to reassure her, yet he too had doubts about his parents' reaction.

Sophie's appearance on Gordon's show initially seemed promising, but soon she stumbled, with Abe and Rose watching intently. She confessed her fears and anxieties, explaining how they had led to her disastrous Apollo performance. Nonetheless, she managed to hold it together long enough to leave a lasting impression on the audience.

Back in the office, Susie encountered Dinah, a woman who had been waiting for an interview for seven hours. Impressed by her dedication, Susie quickly agreed to the interview and advised her to return at noon.
