At Susie's office, the phone lines are abuzz with activity. Her stellar work with Susie and the budding relationship with Alfie have catapulted her into the spotlight, making her a sought-after figure. However, Miriam eventually manages to reach her, pleading for a replacement at the club as she must rush back to the hospital. Unfortunately, Susie has no one to offer in her stead.

Curiously, Miriam's path crosses with Mei's at the hospital for the first time. She seeks to discuss their living arrangements, particularly how it will impact her own children. Miriam's fervent speech leaves Mei stunned, the gravity of the situation dawning on her.

Boise's urgent call interrupts the tense moment, informing Miriam that the club is in disarray and her presence is desperately needed to salvage the evening. With no one to take her place, Miriam rushes back, agreeing to perform one set before departing.

Miriam's stand-up routine is nothing short of brilliant, finally giving us a glimpse into her innermost thoughts and feelings this season. She touches on death, her father-in-law, and even momentarily refers to Joel as her husband—only to quickly correct herself, calling him her ex-husband. Her entire set resonates deeply with the audience, leaving them captivated.

Backstage, Miriam finds Lenny waiting for her. He offers a heartfelt apology for his previous rudeness and reveals a significant opportunity that awaits her.

A call from Tony Bennett's representatives interrupted their day. The renowned comic was set to perform five sold-out nights at the Copa, and they desired Lenny's opening act. However, Lenny's Carnegie Hall booking presented Miriam with an unprecedented opportunity. But before she could utter a word, the venue was besieged by the police, forcing their hasty exit.

Later, in Lenny's hotel room, the two reunited, their chemistry igniting a passionate encounter. Yet, Miriam's sharp eyes caught sight of medication in Lenny's bag, but he dismissed it with a shrug, assuring her that all was well. But was it truly so?

At the hospital, a different kind of miracle unfolded. Moishe, defying all odds, was still alive and vibrant. Abe, holding the obituary in his trembling hands, read it aloud, struggling to maintain his composure as he praised Moishe's goodness and expressed his profound loss, if only it had been true. Their camaraderie, through all the turmoil, had forged a newfound respect.

Meanwhile, Moishe returned home and spoke to Joel about Mei, expressing his unwavering support for their happiness regardless of her ethnicity. However, Shirley remained a separate matter altogether.

In the adjacent room, Abe embraced Rose and urged her to persist in her matchmaking ventures, unknowingly sparking a controversy amongst the other ladies. They all received a letter from Rose, her words declaring, "We're at war." The ominous tone left the door open for the fifth season's intriguing plotlines.

Miriam stormed into Susie's office with the thrilling news of her potential collaboration with Tony Bennett. Susie pressed her to seize this opportunity, but Miriam remained steadfast. Her yearlong plan had never been to be a mere opening act, and thus, she declined the offer. Despite Frank and Nicky's encouragement, Miriam held to her promise.

Lenny Bruce's Carnegie Hall performance was a resounding success, earning him a standing ovation. Amidst the glory, however, Lenny confronted Miriam backstage, displeased with her indifference. He had worked tirelessly to secure her the Bennett gig, yet her casual dismissal had deeply offended him.

Lenny confronted Miriam, reminding her of the rigors of the entertainment business. He urged her to stop hiding and claw her way back to the top, even if it meant facing arrest every night. "Ninety percent of this game is how they see you," he emphasized, recalling Miriam's aspiration to be a comic, not just a funny woman. With Tony Bennett, she would appear deserving of her place. But in a strip club, that's all people would ever see of her.

Lenny's words resonated deeply with Miriam. Standing on the stage together, she realized he was right and began to reconsider her plans. As a blizzard raged outside, she caught sight of a sign—a massive billboard advertising the Gordon Ford show. This seemed to预示 that Miriam would emulate Sophie's path, seeking to revive her career on the talk show that had once launched it. Despite the ups and downs of previous seasons, it seemed season 5 would indeed herald a turn for the better for Miriam, marking a new chapter in her journey.
