The Miniature Wife – Season 1 Episode 9 1

The trouble begins when the wedding planner, Alex, informs Lindy that she had assumed her stepdad would be walking her down the aisle. However, Lindy yearns for her biological father to do so, and she's also troubled by the fact that her parents can't sit together. As the rehearsal dinner nears, Les tries to soothe her nerves. Martin is the first to arrive at the party and mentions to Les that they were passed over by an investor. Les lies to Lindy that everything is fine, but Diane and Walt soon follow.

Diane, of course, can't help but point out everything that's wrong with the party. In particular, she insists that her ex-husband Jim won't show up and that Walt will step in as the father of the bride. Throughout the episode, guests are asked to share their thoughts on the secret to a happy marriage. Diana believes it's unattainable. Terry arrives and shows Lindy what her book will look like. Les is a bit displeased that she's even working on this day. Terry reminds Lindy that she never wanted to get married, but Lindy blames her youthful naivety for her initial thoughts on marriage.

The party starts smoothly, but Lindy is saddened that her dad has yet to show up. Another problem arises in the kitchen, but she tries to take it calmly. Once again, Terry checks in with Lindy to confirm that she really wants to get married. Diane interrupts their conversation to remind Lindy that her dad has always been a disappointment. She criticizes Lindy for working instead of helping Les host the party.

Meanwhile, Lindy's sister realizes that her boyfriend, Tim, is off talking to another lady. The speeches continue with everyone talking about how Lindy and Les are a perfect match. Suddenly, Jim shows up and proceeds to give the heartwarming, funny speech of the day. After his speech, he expresses his pride in Lindy's achievement by reading the advanced copy of her book, which angers Diane.

Diane grabs a copy of the book and starts reading it out loud, immediately connecting with the mother's character. This further annoys her, and an altercation ensues as they try to grab the book from her. Diane accidentally stabs Les and Jim, and things get more chaotic by the second. Jim and Walt start fighting, and before you know it, the moms get into it too.

After the party, Les and Lindy laugh at the way her family ruined the party. Les is a bit offended when she says she is marrying him to get away from them. She assures him that she loves him and brings up her working at the party. They start fighting, with Lindy reminding him that the marriage is not real but just a defiance against their families' wishes. He sees her vow and is pissed that she only wrote one sentence. He storms out of the room, leaving Lindy uncertain about the wedding.

She goes to the bar and runs into Jim. He tells her a story from a movie, insinuating it's his real experience. Even though Lindy knows he's lying, it still cheers her up. In the meantime, Diane finds Les crying in the car. She tells him how she survived after Jim left and points out that maybe Lindy is just scared. She encourages him to work things out with his fiancée.

The following day, Lindy nervously gets ready for the wedding, not sure if Les will show up. She also has a hard time working on her vows and even contemplates leaving. But Les shows up, and they head to a pizza restaurant where they have an honest conversation about their relationship. Les confesses that he really wants to marry her and asks why she said yes to his proposal even though it goes against everything she ever wanted.

Lindy admits that she was scared of losing him since he is brilliant. She believes in him and questions why he would want her. They decide to elope and get married at the grey house with only a few friends as witnesses.
