The third season of The Night Agent picks up with a flashback to five days ago, when Mike sought out Isabel with a request. It was through this very act that Isabel stumbled upon a tip from Jay, alleging suspicious financial reports tied to the recent Prima terrorist attack. She immediately alerts Mike.

The next morning, Isabel informs him that she reached out to Jay, who's currently in Istanbul and claims to possess the documents in question. Naturally, Isabel wants to fly to Istanbul and meet him, but Mike warns her to tread carefully. As they converse, an assistant interrupts to inform them that the FBI is in the building. It turns out that Mike had reached out to one of his sources at FinCEN to verify the memo's authenticity. He believes the guy reached out to the FBI. Isabel begs him to let her follow the lead while he keeps the FBI at bay. She leaves for Istanbul immediately.

Meanwhile, in America, Jay and Peter return to find Catherina and Mosley waiting for them. Peter quickly briefs them and mentions that he has received four missed calls from Monroe. He's worried that Monroe wants Jay because he was the only one who connected the dots. He fears that Monroe is financing the LFS terrorist group and wants to cover his tracks, making Jay a liability he wants to get rid of.

As they talk, Monroe calls again, and Peter puts him on speaker. This time, Peter leverages Jay to confront Monroe. Monroe reminds him of the rules of Go Fish and suggests a mutual benefit trade. Peter asks if Jay's life will be in danger, and Monroe promises he will be safe.

In the meantime, Isabel arrives in the US and meets Mike at his favorite bar. She shows him the documents, and they ponder what a former FBI agent like Peter wants with Jay. Isabel then reveals the common threads she found in the documents. It turns out that Vernon Tyvek was the compliance officer who filed all the SARs documents Jay handed over. However, she has been unable to reach him since he quit his job a few months ago. Mike uses a phone book to find Vernon's parents.

At a safe house, Jay tells his story to Mosley and Catherine, who believe in his innocence. As he showers, they discuss their next steps in handling Monroe. Catherine wants to use Jay to finally lure Monroe out and arrest him. Mosley argues they should use Jay to collect more evidence and walk away from the offer. Peter disagrees with both approaches.

Meanwhile, we encounter a father-and-son duo. The dad receives a call from an anonymous source, hiring him to handle the Jay situation. After the phone call, he informs his son that they'll be leaving for New York and promises they'll visit the Statue of Liberty.

A while later, Monroe calls Peter, and they negotiate the exchange. Peter demands the names of corrupt FBI and CIA agents. They settle on five dirty agents, with Monroe sending the first name and evidence immediately. Unfortunately, Mosley is unable to locate the Broker's location during the call. Immediately after, Monroe sticks to his end of the deal and sends a name and proof.

Elsewhere, Mike and Isabel track down Vernon's address and visit him. He insists on refusing to tell them anything but directs them to Heroes in Healing, a non-profit for injured vets. According to Vernon, although it isn't a shell company, they had suspicious financial activity. He sends them away, asking them never to return or mention him again.

Peter, Mosley, and Catherine review the documents sent by Monroe. The first dirty agent is Special Agent Shigeru Ando; he's supposed to be the next section chief. Catherine suggests they play the long game and use Monroe to root out the leaks in the intelligence section. Mosley agrees that they need to capture Monroe and force him to give them information on the dirty agents. They argue that Peter can finally get his life back. It's a huge risk involving using Jay as bait. Catherine promises to reach out to a joint terrorism task force that owes her a favor to handle the exchange. Peter agrees to the plan under the condition that Jay makes the final decision. He comes clean with Jay, and the latter agrees to the plan.

Later that night, Mike sends word for Isabel to meet him at his favorite bar and bring along the Anderson file. Sadly, by the time she gets there, Mike is fighting for his life. He had an unfortunate encounter with the Father, who poisoned his drink. After poisoning Mike, the Father goes to a motel, cleans up in a different room, and then reunites with his son.

With a plan in motion, Peter and his team wait for Monroe's call. They finalize the details of the exchange, and Monroe insists that Peter only come with Jay. Ahead of the exchange, Catherine brings in the joint terrorism task force to help. Peter quickly picks up that she's dating the task force commander. Mosley gives Peter an unconventional listening device that can't be picked up by normal counter-surveillance devices.

As planned, Peter and Jay nervously wait at the picking point. Once Monroe's team arrives, they get inside the car after a quick body search. Catherine and her team follow behind, making sure to stay out of sight. Mosley remains in a strategic position to listen to the conversation between Monroe and Peter.

The car heads into a dark tunnel where they pick up Monroe. For the most part, Catherine and her team can listen in on the conversation. However, Monroe uses signal jammers and frequency hopping to stay ahead of the team. Catherine and her team realize too late that they're following the wrong car after Monroe exits the tunnel. When she opens the door, Catherine unintentionally triggers the bomb inside.

In the other car, Monroe asks Jay what Peter shared about him. He seems satisfied with the answer and asks more about Jay's talent with numbers. He hints at plans to use Jay's skills for his benefit. Before Peter leaves, Monroe gives him a USB with the list. However, after the bomb goes off, he takes it back. He warns Peter never to cross him again and be ready to blindly obey him.
