The scene opens with a flashback to six years ago, when Cisco, Peter's loyal friend, botched a training exercise, leading to Peter's "death" during the drill. In a heartfelt moment, Peter urges Cisco not to dwell on his mistake but to focus on their training, so they never have to experience the loss of an agent in the field.

Now, in the present, Mosley and Peter are at the White House, preparing to debrief Hagan. Peter is still reeling from Catherine's death and blames himself. Mosley advises him to keep his thoughts to himself and let him handle the briefing. He asks Peter about the Broker and what he noticed during their meeting. Peter reveals that he suspects Monroe is ill and possibly battling cancer.
Hagan interrupts, questioning how a minor investigation led to Catherine's death. Mosley tries to explain, but it doesn't look good. Hagan questions whether Peter is the right agent to continue the investigation. Against Mosley's orders, Peter tells Hagan about Jay's suspicions that the Pima12 terrorist attack was planned on American soil. He also shares that there's an ongoing night action investigation into the intelligence broker who has compromised multiple intelligence agencies. Interestingly, Hagan acts as if he has no idea about who Peter is referring to!
Peter then reveals that he's working as a double agent. Hagan asks them to stay on course and regularly update him. Obviously, Peter shares his suspicions of the President with Mosley. His supervisor asks him to collect the evidence, insisting they'll figure out what to do about Hagan when they cross that bridge.
On his way out, Peter runs into Chelsea, who is working as the First Lady's security detail. He asks about Hagan and his wife, to which Chelsea responds that they are great. Peter says nothing else and heads back to attend the Governor's ball at the White House.
While at the ball, Jenny, the First Lady, leaves the room. It turns out this is a ploy to get Chelsea away so that her boyfriend, Theo, can propose. Theo works at the White House as Jenny's speechwriter and is part of the White House Press team.
Before leaving the White House, Peter drops by the human resources department to ask about designating his death benefits to Rose. He is informed that he can only do that if they are married. It dawns on Peter that Rose is the only person he has, but he can't legally look after her.
Later, Hagan and Jenny rewatch the video of Theo's proposal and reminisce about their own. Hagan confesses to getting help from Monroe, and he expresses his concern that the federal investigation into Monroe might lead to them. Jenny is hurt and angry that he lied about how he got the opposition research during the campaign. She reminds him of their vow to never keep secrets. Meanwhile, Isabel retrieves Mike's bag from Fran's bar. She also watches the CCTV footage of Mike's incident, but she fails to pick up on the Father's poisoning of Mike's drink. However, she takes a picture of the man. She quickly returns to the office and goes through Mike's last notes. She discovers that he was investigating something called GreenPointe.
The assistant interrupts and informs her that Kevin, AKA Peter, is looking for her downstairs. Their first meeting is antagonistic, as Isabel accuses Peter of kidnapping Jay. She refuses to listen to his explanation and he dodges her questions about who he works for. He asks if Jay has made contact, but she was under the impression that Jay was with Peter. She kicks him out of the office building.
At the motel, the Son grows more curious about his dad's job. He attempts to look through his bag but fails. He tries to convince his dad to take him with him to his job, but obviously, the dad refuses. The Father gets ready to leave and assigns the son schoolwork to complete. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Theo bask in the bliss of their new engagement before heading in for work.
As for Isabel, she returns to Vernon's house after seeing that Mike planned to meet with him again. She finds his door open and enters to find his dead body lying on the kitchen floor. Someone turns off the blasting music, and she realizes she is not alone. She calls 911 but is unable to speak as she hides. Peter arrives and helps her to escape. The Father tricks them into thinking he has left the house, but he hides upstairs and watches them leave.
As they ride back to town on the ferry, Peter and Isabel strike a deal. He reveals to her that he's a CIA agent tasked with bringing Jay back and uncovering the truth behind Wallace's disappearance. He hints that Jay was taken by an intelligence broker, and he's determined to retrieve him. Peter wins Isabel over by sharing that the said broker was responsible for his boss's death. She, in turn, tells him about Mike's death and her ongoing investigation. Isabel sets one condition: she gets to publish everything once the investigation concludes. They agree to team up and uncover who's trying to silence the story.
Meanwhile, Monroe meets with a woman at a library. She demands that he reopens all his accounts at her bank, but Monroe is hesitant, given that Jay discovered links between the bank, the woman, and the terrorists behind the Pima 12 attack. He suggests introducing him to one of her other clients, but she refuses and insists on confidentiality. She then asks about Jay, and Monroe lies that he killed him.
At the motel, the Father grades his son's schoolwork, and their conversation turns to the father's job. To satisfy the boy's curiosity, the Father allows him to explore his work bag, where he discovers a PlayStation set that belonged to Vernon. Meanwhile, Peter and Isabel follow Mike's lead from his notes. They realize that Mike might have been delving into the political aspects of their investigation. Their search leads them to a Super PAC (Political Action Committee) of congressmen and senators.
The only common factor between the Super PAC, the Anderson file, and the Heroes in Healing NGO is Senator Lansing. They deduce that Lansing might have been Mike's source and wonder why he lied to Mike during their meeting. They decide to contact Lansing the next day.
In the meantime, Peter walks her home and asks why she became a journalist. It turns out she was inspired by a Mexican political journalist who was killed. When the reporter was killed, Isabel realized why the truth mattered. She moved to the US at 18 and pursued her dreams.
At the White House, a butler brings food for Jenny. Chelsea is distracted by Theo, who asks why she left her engagement ring at home. She explains that it's against policy to wear a ring at work, and she didn't want to lose it. She assures him that she loves the ring. She heads back to the CCTV room and notices that the butler, Brian, is still inside the presidential suite. Naturally, she goes to check on Jenny.
She overhears Jenny shouting for help before screaming that Brian has a gun. Instinctively, Chelsea barges in and shoots Brian as he lunges at Jenny. The White House security details arrive seconds later but don't find a gun on Brian.
The scene cuts to Peter returning home to find a man brewing tea. The man, Adam, claims that Hagan appointed him as Peter's new partner.
