Episode 4 of The Night Agent Season 3 begins with a flashback to 15 months ago, when the Hagan family arrived at the White House. Chelsea connected with Jenny by being there for her during an anxious moment before a speech. This not only impressed Jenny but also Theo, who asked her out on their first date.

Now, we return to Peter's house, where he verifies that Adam is indeed a night agent. Mosley is surprised to hear about the partnership and questions why Hagan felt the need to assign Adam to Peter and ignore protocol. He advises Peter to brief Adam but proceed cautiously. The duo head to a diner, where Peter brings Adam up to speed on the investigation. He hints that he is cultivating Isabel as his source and would prefer if Adam kept his distance. Watching them be mutually elusive about their past jobs is amusing. However, Adam has the upper hand since he went through Peter's file. He realizes that Peter doesn't trust him, but he doesn't push it.
At the White House, Chelsea notices Jenny hiding Brian's phone in one of the drawers in her desk. Patterson goes through the incident again with her, but no new information is offered. He reminds her that the official debrief will happen the next day, and she can resume duty following a psych evaluation. Apparently, Hagan wants her back on the job quickly.
During the day, Chelsea has a chance to ask Jenny about the incident, but the latter claims she is trying to move on. Later, Chelsea shares her suspicions with Theo, who tries to rationalize Jenny's actions. He worries that she is on a wild goose chase.
At Isabel's office, Peter reports that Lansing has been dodging his calls. He has Isabel call and reveal that she is looking into Mike's death and believes Lansing might know something. Immediately, she calls. Lansing takes the bait out of fear and anxiety of being linked to the suspicious murder of a journalist shortly after meeting with him. He invites Isabel to an exclusive hunting lodge. Peter assures her he will find a way to sneak inside. Also heading to the lodge are the Father and Son.
Peter manages to get inside the hunting lodge by acting like he is there for a job interview. To fit in with the high-end clientele, Isabel buys him new clothes at the store. She reveals that although she grew up poor, she has been around the rich and knows how they operate. At the White House, Theo hosts a press conference to address the Brian incident, and in a shocking twist, he publicly thanks Chelsea by name. This revelation causes tension in their relationship, as it violates protocol to out a secret service agent. Theo explains that it was Jenny's idea and that he also lied about Brian being armed and dangerous, with the Secret Service acting immediately.
At the lodge, Lansing is evasive with his answers until Isabel presses him further. He suggests a quid pro quo in exchange for her dropping the investigation. Isabel, of course, refuses and he abruptly ends the dinner. He calls someone and meets with them at a different cabin. Peter watches but is interrupted before he can clearly see who Lansing is talking to. He mentally notes down the name of the cabin and pretends to be another cabin owner looking for his lost dog.
On the other hand, the Father and Son enjoy a beautiful night of stargazing. Back in Isabel's room, Peter and Isabel discuss their findings. He shares his theory that Lansing is involved with the broker. Isabel wonders if he's holding out on her, and he assures her that he isn't. Just then, Lansing calls and asks to meet in the morning. They make plans for Peter to follow the lead on the cabin while Isabel tries to get Lansing to spill his guts. They spend the rest of the night playing a pool game where they take turns answering each other's questions.
We learn that Isabel's wealthy father abandoned her and her mother when she was young. He returned when she was 15 and tried to buy her love with money. She feels guilty for accepting her father's money to pay for college. Peter admits that he's struggling to let anyone in after his last relationship.
At the White House, Hagan and Jenny decide to host a dinner party for Theo and Chelsea. Meanwhile, Theo and Chelsea reconcile, and she shares with him about Brian's phone. The next morning, the Father leaves the Son at a campsite to enjoy some personal time. Lansing invites Isabel to join him on a hunt, while Peter discovers that the cabin Lansing visited belongs to David Hutson.
Initially, Lansing tries to persuade Isabel to drop the investigation, warning her of the powerful forces behind the Pima12 attack and his own innocence. He only took a bribe to look the other way and cannot afford to be linked to a terrorist attack. When Isabel refuses to listen, Lansing draws his gun. Thankfully, Peter arrives and tries to reason with him.
At the same time, the Son leaves the campsite, fascinated by a deer. He is terrified when he hears gunshots. It turns out that the Father is at the lodge to kill Lansing and Isabel. The first shot takes down Lansing, and Peter takes action. They get into his car and realize belatedly that the brakes have been cut. They get into a minor accident, but Peter suffers a concussion. They take cover in the woods, but the Father follows Peter's blood trail.
In the end, Peter throws away Isabel's phone and calls it to distract the Father. This buys them a few seconds. Peter asks Isabel to take a different route so he can lead the Father away from her. The plan works, but Peter grows weaker with each step. The Father finally finds him and is about to shoot when Adam shows up. Adam's bullet hits him in the arm, and he runs away.
The episode ends with Adam standing over an unconscious Peter.
