Episode 5 of The Night Agent Season 3 begins with a flashback to eight months ago, when Hagan visited Adam at his cabin. The two have a long history, dating back to their days in the military. Hagan recruits Adam back into service, stating that he desperately needs someone he can trust on his team.

In the present, Peter wakes up to find himself in Adam's cabin alongside Isabel. Although his memory is a bit fuzzy, he asserts that he can identify the Father if he sees him again. Adam informs him that he took care of things at the lodge. Apparently, Adam discovered a lead in the SARs, but before that, he asks to speak to Peter privately.
They head out into the woods, where Adam confesses that he has been following Peter. He adds that Hagan sent him to evaluate if Peter is a trustworthy agent. Peter tells him about Monroe and how he got tangled up in this mess. He tactfully leaves out the part where his involvement secured Hagan's presidency.
Adam reminds Peter that he is not alone and that agents will always be forced to make tough choices. He reveals that he and Hagan are old friends. Despite the lingering distrust, the two agree to work together on the new lead.
It turns out that Adam discovered that every shell company mentioned in the LFS crypto wallet documents was registered by the same agent, Adele Morse. Adam already spoke to her, and she revealed that she was bribed by David Hutson, a casino owner. Interestingly, Hutson is also the same man who owns the cabin Lansing visited at the lodge. He is also the co-founder of the Heroes in Healing Charity Foundation. They believe that Hutson is funding Zapata and perhaps managing Monroe's funds. However, Hutson is planning to leave the country later that day, so they head to the casino. Isabel asks them to drop her off at work.
At the lodge, the Father lies to his son about his injury. He goes back to the woods and clones Isabel's phone. Elsewhere, Brian's brother confronts Chelsea, accusing her of covering up the truth behind his brother's death. Chelsea explains that Brian attacked Jenny, and she had to act. She later reports the incident to her supervisor, Patterson, and asks for help with the investigation.
So far, they've only gathered that Brian was receiving funds from a suspicious account weeks prior to the incident. Patterson grants Chelsea access to the evidence they've amassed. At the casino, Adam converses with Peter about how he's constantly pushing himself too far for the job. He warns him that it could be detrimental to live solely for a job. Over time, the two grow close enough to Hutson to clone his phone. However, Adam encounters a minor setback, forcing him to conceal himself in Hutson's office. He observes him engaging in an affair with one of his employees. Peter transmits the information to the wife, who is also present in the building. Unfortunately, the distraction isn't entirely effective, and Adam is spotted. Security rushes in, and Peter steps in to save him.
Despite Mosley's request for them to maintain a low profile, the mission ends up being a public affair. Later, Peter calls to update him on how everything went down. They fret that they might have spooked Hutson, who left the building earlier to avoid a confrontation with his wife. Mosley promises to expedite the date that Peter and Adam collected from Hutson's phone and computer.
At the White House, Chelsea's suspicions towards Jenny deepen after observing numerous clips of her constantly conversing with Brian. Later, she shares her doubts with Theo and requests him to just listen to her. He urges her to drop the investigation, fearing the consequences if it turns out to be a misunderstanding. They prepare for their dinner with the First Couple.
At the motel, the Father utilizes video games to distract his son while he attends to his wounds. The Son overhears him groaning in pain.
Meanwhile, Theo lets it slip that Chelsea is delving into the Brian incident. Jenny admits that she's traumatized by the event but ready to move on. Chelsea plays it cool, claiming she's only looking into preventing a similar incident from occurring again. Jenny lies that she occasionally spoke briefly with Brian and feigns interest in the investigation. Chelsea excuses herself and sneaks back to the room where Brian was shot, stealing Brian's phone from the First Lady's desk. Hagan catches her, but she lies that she was just checking if they missed something. He commends her dedication and worries that she might still be struggling with killing Brian.
At Peter's house, Mosley calls back after a few hours and reports that they've arrested Hutson. It turns out Hutson is an alias; his real name is Diego, and he's linked to many compromised politicians. However, they found no evidence linking Hutson to the mysterious broker. Peter is frustrated, feeling like they're back at square one. Adam excuses himself to call Hagan and brief him.
The scene cuts to Jay, currently held at one of Monroe's mansions. Given the situation, his new digs look more comfortable than expected. He's been researching the SARs and has noticed new activities in the LFS crypto wallet. He thinks it's a sign that the LFS are planning a second, bigger attack. Based on the timeline of the first attack, he figures they have about a week left before something happens.
After dinner, Chelsea and Theo return home. Theo is thrilled about the dinner, but Chelsea is conflicted. She calls Peter and asks why he asked about the First Couple. Peter tells her he can't divulge details about his investigation, but she shares her suspicions with him. After the call, Peter calls Isabel and sets up a meeting at her office. He asks her to search for a company called Corepoint Dynamics. This is the same company that started sending money to Brian weeks before he attacked Jenny. Upon hearing the name, Isabel's demeanor changes.
They meet, and she reveals that a few years ago, she was investigating a few shell companies. Unfortunately, the person behind the companies did an exemplary job at hiding behind the shell companies. The investigation led her nowhere. However, the name Corepoint Dynamics kept popping up. They go through the documents, and Peter notices the name of a trust company, KinCare Trust, that came up a year ago when he was looking into the broker. He gets excited to finally have a lead on the broker. Isabel mentions she has a source who can tell them more about KinCare Trust. She insists on going alone.
At the White House, Hagan updates Jenny about the LFS case. Jenny gets excited, believing a quick arrest for the people responsible for the Pima12 attack would be good for Hagan's presidency. He adds that Lansing's death might be part of the conspiracy, and she suggests speeding up the investigation if government officials are being targeted. Hagan refuses to make a move until he's sure.
The conversation turns to an upcoming charity gala that Jenny is planning. He asks her not to invite Monroe until they're sure that he wasn't involved with LFS. Meanwhile, Peter secretly follows Isabel and sees her meeting with none other than the broker he's been looking for.
