The Pitt – Season 2 Episode 10

In the opening of Episode 10 of The Pitt season 2, the hospital is abuzz with chaos as the water park's collapse brings an avalanche of patients. Dana urgently informs the ER that two new patients are inbound via helicopter within five minutes. Rather than entrusting Langdon with the task, Robby deliberately selects Ogilvie to accompany him on top.

The Pitt – Season 2 Episode 10 1

Ogilvie remarks on how demanding and relentless this job has been, but Robby dismisses it, noting it's just another day at the office for him during a holiday weekend. The first patient, Emily, arrives without a leg, causing her to panic. Whitaker and his team work tirelessly to prepare her for surgery, with replantation as a viable option. Robby tries his best to calm her down as the initial ketamine wears off.

The second patient, Derek, is more concerned about finding his seven-year-old son, Zack, who has chest pain. Santos insists on inserting a chest tube immediately, but Baran and Langdon disagree, wanting to wait for a scan. Derek's finger injury, caused by his ring slipping and creating a grotesque degloving, complicates matters further. He explains that he was trying to hold onto Zack but slipped and got his ring stuck.

Dr. Garcia arrives and discovers a block, while Santos continues to lash out at Langdon. Baran stands by Langdon's side. Additionally, it appears that Derek has a partially collapsed lung, but Santos is reluctant to abandon the chest tube approach. Langdon suggests a ThoraVent as a better option, which doesn't sit well with Santos. Her usual arrogance and petty attitude are evident to all, including Derek, who remains conscious throughout the chaos.

Garcia snaps at her, telling Santos that "apparently decentcy and decorum need to be reintroduced." Well, the beginning of season 1 would have been the perfect time for her to learn that! Meanwhile, Javadi is still feeling guilty after losing her patient. McKay gives her some words of encouragement and points out the difference in families that she and Roxie have, specifically mentioning Roxie's sweet, loving family and Javadi's expectant, demanding parents who exhibit nothing but coldness towards her. McKay acts as a mediator here, working between Roxie, her kids, and Javade to help them understand and empathize with what's happening.

Dr. Mohan's mother calls to talk to her, but Mohan isn't in the mood to pick up right now and defers the call. She keeps calling, and Mohan's mood isn't helped when she learns that Jack Abbott isn't around. She was hoping to get a letter of recommendation for a fellowship from him, but that still seems uncertain at this point. Mohan eventually starts to panic and as she heads into the waiting room to calm down, clutching her chest, she spirals out of control. Joy puts her in a wheelchair and takes her back to the ER. She thinks she might be having a heart attack.

The EKG results for her seem fine, but when Robby hears this, he's incredulous. He assumes Mohan is simply having a panic attack due to "mummy issues." Robby labels her a liability and decides to send her home.

The mention of "mummy issues" leads us to Javadi, whose mother returns to the ER after hearing about her mishap from last episode. She reprimands her daughter completely and tells her she's "better than this."

In the midst of all this interpersonal drama, a new patient is brought into the ER: an 8-year-old boy who fell 6 or 7 feet from a tree. It's possible he has a laryngeal fracture, and things don't look good. In the end, they decide to perform a tracheostomy, which Baran guides the others on how to do. Interestingly, this is the first time Baran has ever done one, and she absolutely nails it.

Mel returns after her deposition but is still in a bit of a daze. Her lawyer chirps on in the elevator about how she was grilled pretty hard. Mel is more concerned about Becca though and constantly asks how she is. However, Langdon puts his foot down and refuses to budge on divulging details about her. When Mel eventually speaks to Becca, it turns out she has a UTI from having too much sex!

Meanwhile, Robby's buddy, Duke, is brought in and he's actually a motorcycle engineer, which is how he and Robby initially met. Whitaker will be taking care of him from here on out. It may be less of a sore throat he has and something more serious. While there doesn't seem to be anything down his throat, Whitaker wants to do a chest X-ray to be sure.

Baran takes Robby aside in private and questions him over how he handled Mohan. Given his lack of sympathy, Baran wants him to help a bit and try a softer approach. Robby laughs incredulously and eventually heads in to apologize... in a roundabout way at least!

As the episode closes out, the family gathers to say goodbye to Roxie.
