In the opening of Episode 12 of Season 2 of The Pitt, Dana and the other doctors rush in to save Emma. Although we don't see exactly what has happened, we learn about it later. Dana gives the man a shot to calm him down and claims that the patient "slipped" and injured his nose when Robby showed up.

Robby knows what's happening and why it's affecting Dana so much, but he tries to talk to her about it. Naturally, Dana is not having any of it. She knows she's messed up, but she's also concerned about Robby's wellbeing, taunting death and heading off on his bike trip.
Dana wants Emma to take the rest of the day off after her assault, but she refuses to do so, wanting to see out her first day properly. Baran takes Robby aside and admits that, with all the current chaos, she's going to recommend that The Pitt have two attending doctors on shift moving forward. The department is too much for one person to handle, and she brings up the situation with Langdon and Santos as an example of that.
It turns out that Baran didn't know the full extent of the drama, and as a result, her opinion of Langdon completely shifts, and she ends up being cold and short with him on several occasions.
A new patient, Oliver, is rushed into the ER, and both Javadi and Whitaker are there to bring him in. He has fluid overload and is spewing from the mouth, and he's in a rough way. Meanwhile, Duke wants to leave rather than wait for his CT scan, but Robby forces his friend to hang around for the time being. On his way out of his room, Robby overhears Santos exasperating at a patient (what's new?) and he jokes about it rather than reprimanding her.
To be fair, it is chaos in the ER and the patient rooms are all muddled up. This hits McKay particularly hard when she receives something for Roxie from a nurse, hours after she passed away.
McKay and Langdon engage in a heartfelt conversation about McKay's emotional state, which has been numbed by the Pitt. Langdon offers a comforting hug, but McKay humorously responds with a "Fuck no." Another patient, Rita, arrives after a car accident with her husband Eddie. Rita suffers from a hairline fracture in her hip, and Eddie is consumed by guilt, knowing that he's responsible for her injury. Things take a turn for the worse when Mel and Santos discover that Eddie has coordination issues. The option of assisted living is suggested, but neither of them is willing to accept it. However, with Robby's guidance, they soften their stance during the second conversation and seem more receptive to home helpers.
As the day wears on, the night shift team arrives. Miguel is the first to arrive and meets with Javadi, teasing her about being Dr. J and even suggesting she join the night shift. Of course, Javadi isn't sure what she wants to do at the moment. Dante, a patient who arrived earlier in the episode, has suffered a nasty injury from playing with fireworks. He requires staples for a gnarly skull injury, but when Joy makes a mistake and says "oops," Santos rightly pulls her aside and explains that they should never say this to a patient.
However, later on, a collection of blood builds up around Dante's heart, forcing the doctors to perform emergency surgery. It's been a rough day for Dana, and the past few hours have really gotten to her. When the aggressive guy from earlier comes around, he seems far more sober and communicates better. His scans have come back normal, but he tests positive for alcohol and cocaine. McKay explains that these mixed together can sometimes lead to aggression, psychosis, and confusion.
Dana's anger still smoldered, and she longed to press charges, eventually venturing outside to calm her nerves. In her absence, McKay observed the man's growing aggression, culminating in him hurling insults at her when she even suggested rehabilitation.
Outside, Robby joined Dana as she smoked, seeking to unravel what had transpired. The pair hashed out their differences, with Robby acknowledging that her self-armament with a sedative as a vigilante defense against future assaults was not right and could result in the loss of her medical license. Conversely, Dana spoke to Robby about his mood and how he was personally taking the Langdon situation hard. She recognized that it reflected poorly on him, given Langdon was his protégé.
Meanwhile, Santos appeared to steal a scalpel from the cart and then spoke to Whitaker about Langdon. She was not only enraged about the current situation but also about Whitaker leaving to stay at Robby's pad. Whitaker was shocked when he realized that Santos actually liked him and especially enjoyed living with him. Javadi overheard the entire conversation and couldn't stop smiling.
A ray of good news arrived with Robby's ability to embark on his motorcycle trip now that the cyber attack was starting to subside and restrictions might be lifted. However, this joy was swiftly dashed when Santos noticed a new patient being brought in - it was Orlando.
