The Pitt – Season 2 Episode 7 1

Dana and Emma rush over with Baran to meet Ilana, the woman in question. They conduct a thorough examination to ensure she has no injuries and then take her statement, which includes a painful recollection of her ordeal and a swab test. These scenes are woven throughout the episode and are incredibly emotional, especially as Ilana starts making excuses, claiming the perpetrator was a friend who was just drunk.

It's only when Ilana leaves the room that we see Dana exhibit a moment of reflection and vulnerability, struggling to hold back tears.

Meanwhile, Dr. McKay and Robby work together to convince Roxie, a terminal cancer patient with a broken leg, to return home. They need the bed space, especially as more Westbridge patients are inbound. Could there be something else at play here?

Roxie's husband, Paul, is pushy and wants her to return home, but Roxie is reluctant. Paul is almost reduced to tears when the doctors inform him that there's not much they can do.

As for Dr. Santos, she heads back to see Harlow, the ELS patient, with a video translator. Naturally, her terrible bedside manner and the equipment malfunctioning highlight the inadequacies of the hospital system and how people like Harlow can slip through the cracks.

Santos wants to perform a head and stomach scan, but Robby doesn't think it's a good idea to expose her to radiation.

Meanwhile, Jackson has been sedated, and his parents are not pleased. Since they didn't witness his erratic behavior beforehand, Baran explains that they've had to place him on an involuntary psych ward hold for the time being.

Baran, feeling overwhelmed by the information, starts to struggle just like Robby did in season 1. She rushes to the bathroom and calls the Pittsburgh Neuroscience Group, where she's a patient of Dr. Fairgraves. Unfortunately, he's not available, but she urges him to call her back as soon as possible.

As for Jackson, Dr. Jefferson returns and speaks to the family, revealing that Jackson's uncle, Ken, had committed suicide in the past. This revelation hits Jada hard, prompting Javadi to speak to her confidentially. Javadi reassures her and explains that some families have a hard time discussing mental health.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jack Abbot arrives with his friend, Officer Hiro, and he's not here to mess around. He's a SWAT physician in his free time, and he shows off his skills. Baran is impressed, especially when he admits that he's worked in the Middle East in the past. We also learn here that Baran has worked in Kabul and at a maternity ward in 2020 too.

Orlando tries to leave for his job but is convinced by Mohan to stay and help him out more. However, later in the episode, Mohan finds Orlando's room empty and discovers Abbot getting patched up there. He offers to pay for an Uber to send Orlando's gear back home, which helps calm Mohan down. He then helps patch up Jack, who has been shot at and grazed with a bullet.

Another patient is wheeled into the emergency room, Elliot Green. He's been brought in with heat stroke, but Elliot thinks he just needs some water. This could be the first of many cases like this on the 4th of July.

Robby and Langdon both find themselves heading up to the rooftop to pick up an air trauma from the helipad. The elevator ride is incredibly awkward, but while they wait, Langdon apologizes. Robby isn't sure if he wants Langdon in the ER right now, but he's glad that Langdon has gotten help. Given how close these two were, the betrayal has obviously hit him hard.

As they handle their patient down in the ER, who has some nasty gashes on his side from a propeller incident, Robby grills Langdon. He stares at him intently as he tests the guy's knowledge.

Through all of this chaos, the patients keep coming, and the ER is filling up fast. The Hospital CEO, Trent Norris, shows up and has Robby gather the staff. It turns out Westbridge has been hit with a cyberattack. Good Dominion Hospital has also been hit, and their ambulances are being diverted to St Mary's, which means they could get even more patients showing up.

Whoever did this is demanding ransom and, as a precaution, they're going to shut down all the computer systems. This means everything from patient registrations to electronic health records, charting, emails, and everything else will all be done manually. Whitaker hurriedly snaps a picture of the main screens before everything goes offline completely.

"This is going to be fun," Jack Abbot jokes, as all hell looks set to break loose.
