The Price of Confession – K-drama Episode 4 1

Meanwhile, Jeong-gu escorts Yun-su home, where she discovers that her gate is adorned with messages of support from her admirers. Bae Sun-deok, a woman representing the court, arrives and installs cameras and an ankle monitor on Yun-su. She imposes a set of strict rules, forbidding her from leaving a particular district or even leaving her home between 10 pm and 6 am.

After Sop has retired to bed, Mun-jun pays a visit to Yun-su, apologizing for everything and even suggesting that she hit her to make amends. They make up over tteokbeokki and beer, before Mun-jun departs. Yun-su then remembers her promise to Mo Eun and embarks on researching the dentist couple and their son.

In the morning, Yun-su drops Sop off at the bus stop and heads to the grocery store, where she is subjected to stares and even photo-bombed by an unseen photographer on the street. She then meets Jeong-gu, who informs her that her appeal will take place in three weeks.

In prison, Mo Eun asks a guard to bring her medicine and a newspaper. She then conceals the pills for later use. Yun-su receives a visit from Dong-hun, who has been transferred to another department. Their meal together is awkward, but midway through, Yun-su abruptly leaves.

As four public defenders reject Mo Eun's case, Jin Yeong-in, a renowned lawyer known for taking on cases of the underprivileged, takes up her defense. She wonders if he truly wants to defend her, and he, in turn, asks if he can trust her. She assures him that he can. During their meeting, Mo Eun writes a letter for Yun-su and asks him to deliver it.

As Yun-su ventures to the dentist couple's abode, she spies their son outside, her curiosity piqued enough to rifle through his mailbox. The following day, Yeong-in hands over the letters to Jeong-gu and Yun-su, each letter a potential pebble in the pond of her already turbulent life.

As Yun-su makes her way back home, her image is once again captured by an unseen lens. Inside her abode, she delves into the letter penned by Mo Eun, a note of well-wishing that masks a sinister threat. The simple words serve as a chilling reminder of Mo Eun's impending testimony, casting a shadow over Yun-su's every thought.

The night brings with it a reoccurrence of her unease, a feeling of being watched that now takes the form of a nightmare. Upon awakening, Yun-su catches a glimpse of movement outside her window. A figure in a hoodie creeps towards her door, their hand reaching for the handle.

Yun-su's instincts kick into high gear, and she flips the switch, illuminating the figure, who promptly takes off into the night, pursued by Yun-su herself. In the midst of her pursuit, her ankle bracelet emits a piercing beep, alerting the authorities to her predicament.

Meanwhile, in Mo Eun's cell, a guard opens the door to find it empty. The episode ends with Yun-su mere feet away from the hooded figure, who now resembles Mo Eun more than ever, as the siren of an approaching police car wails in the distance.
