Frustration evident, Elliot demands clarification on his abduction. Frank warns darkly that should anything untoward befall him, his associates will come after both him and Helen Chambers (Danielle MacDonald). The Tourist – Season 2 Episode 3 1

Meanwhile, Detective Ruairi Slater (Conor MacNeill) finds himself holding Helen at gunpoint, his voice tinged with apology. Helen, with calm resolve, endeavors to persuade him to release her. The lifeless body of Slater's wife, Mary, lies sprawled on the floor. He confesses to having kept Mary's corpse in the basement after her battle with colon cancer, unable to let go. Helen, her voice trembling with urgency, implores him not to compound the tragedy by taking her life too. Slater, seeing echoes of Mary in Helen, acknowledges her words, yet finds himself unable to move past his grief. He confiscates her phone and shackles her to the stove with handcuffs.

Elsewhere, Niamh rushes to inform Patrick (John Cronin) that Elliot’s kidnapping was orchestrated by the MacDonald family. Patrick deadpanned and refused her request to help find Elliot. Niamh is furious and confronts him, accusing him of allying with the Franks. She walked over to him, wondering what his father would think of his inaction. Patrick is unmoved, reminding her that her status has been reduced. Outside, Niamh calls Tomasz to arrange an emergency meeting.

Elliot, consumed with worry, repeatedly tries to reach Helen. Leaving a desperate voicemail, he urges her to contact him, assuring her of his concern. Later, Ethan Krum (Greg Larsen) storms in, seeking news of Helen. Elliot, nonchalantly stating she was out all night, faces Ethan's sarcastic skepticism. Elliot reveals his own ordeal, claiming abduction. Ethan, unconvinced, dares him to a duel—a test to win back Helen's affection and forgiveness. Elliot counters, suggesting their abductor might still have Helen. Ethan, having tracked Helen's phone, reveals her last known location, the tension mounting with each revelation.

Slater reassures Helen with a confident tone that her cries for assistance will remain unheard, shielded by the impregnable thickness of the walls. Acknowledging the sighting of the DNA report from the crime scene, he casually mentions that Elliot needn't be burdened with this knowledge. Helen, parched and desperate, beseeches him for a mere sip of water. Reluctantly, he unlocks her handcuffs, tossing the key carelessly onto the table. Seizing the opportunity, Helen deftly snatches a soda can tab from somewhere nearby. As he hands her a glass of water, Slater's composure shatters, tears streaming down his face as he reminisces about Mary. Helen, attempting to probe, asks how Mary would view his current actions towards her, only to be met with a sudden brandishing of his weapon and a harsh command to cease mentioning Mary's name. Before departing, he secures the handcuff to the stove handle. But Helen, resourceful and determined, employs the soda can tab to gradually loosen the sturdy handle.

Elsewhere, Niamh galvanizes a group, firing their enthusiasm to embark on a search for Elliot. Tomasz, concerned for her safety, urges her to seek refuge from the McDonnell family at Abbey House. Niamh, steadfast in her resolve, rejects the idea, recalling a solemn vow never to set foot there again.

Lena Pascal (portrayed by Victoria Haralabidou) demands Donal McDonnell (Diarmaid Murtagh) to produce Elliot at her beck and call. Orla McDonnell (Ness Matthews) interjects, stating that once Elliot is captured, he will be transformed into Frank once more. Lena asserts confidently that Elliot wouldn't be in Ireland had it not been for her letter. Orla, cold and calculating, declares that they are no longer mutually beneficial. Lena, furious, storms off. Donal, vowing to terminate Elliot, offers Lena the opportunity to witness the act. She warns him of Elliot's perilous nature.

Meanwhile, Elliot and Ethan trace a signal to a crushed phone, Helen's, discarded in the secluded woods. Elliot phones Frank, demanding answers about Helen's whereabouts. Frank, denying any involvement, faces Elliot's disbelief. Ethan, utilizing the tracker, delves into its history to pinpoint Helen's last known location. Separately, Frank informs Fergal McDonnell (Mark McKenna) about Elliot's inquisitive call. Fergal feigns ignorance regarding Helen's disappearance. Frank, puzzled, questions how Elliot managed to escape the island's treacherous currents. Fergal, maintaining his innocence, claims to be equally in the dark.

Slater acquires an assortment of items: duct tape, a shovel, rubber gloves, and rope. The cashier, Louis McCartney, raises an eyebrow and inquiries whether he intends to commit a heinous act. With a giggle, Slater nonchalantly responds in the affirmative. Elsewhere, Niamh and Tomasz venture to Abbey House, only to be greeted by a macabre sight—bloodstains adorning the floor. Tomasz reminds Niamh of her own instruction to steer clear of this place, yet she persists, filling a pan with water and vigorously scrubbing away the grim evidence, frustration etched on her face.

Meanwhile, Elliot and Ethan trace Helen's phone to its last known location. Inside the house, Helen is intently engaged in loosening screws, her focus momentarily shattered by a flicker of movement outside. She calls out for assistance. Deidre, portrayed by Alama Kickham, informs Elliot and Ethan of Slater's absence. At Fiona Slater's residence, played by Emer Casey, she warmly invites the duo in for a meal. Elliot attempts to explain their presence, citing Helen's phone's location as her address, but Fiona misconstrues their intentions, believing them to be hungry detectives in need of nourishment. She confides in her wish that Slater had tied the knot.

Slater returns, a shovel prominently clutched in his hand. Helen, having managed to free herself from her handcuffs, pounds on the door, her cries for help echoed through the air. Ethan detects an unusual odor, to which Slater casually attributes it to the pipes, while Helen's desperate pleas continue unanswered. The brothers ultimately depart, leaving Slater to descend into the basement, where he discovers Helen dressed in his deceased wife's attire, complete with a wig. She playfully suggests a meal of pork and beans accompanied by Billy Joel's "Piano Man." Pleased by the proposal, Slater agrees, setting out to procure the necessary supplies.

At Golden Sliotar Pub, Elliot and Ethan inquire with the bartender, Justin Daniels Anene, about Helen's whereabouts. The bartender directs them to Derek, who was on duty the previous day. A call from Tiote's associate, Sodiz Ajibola Abiola, alerts Tiote of Elliot's presence at the pub, prompting Tiote to inform Frank.

Back at the scene, Helen prepares the pork and beans, while Slater recounts the origins of the recipe, attributed to Mary. He promises Helen her freedom if they can come to some understanding. She accuses him of abduction, which he candidly admits, clarifying it's a first for him. She knows the difference between right and wrong, contemplating the use of a knife until Slater seizes his firearm, convincing her to relinquish it to him.
