Episode 3 of *The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon* Season 3 kicks off with Guillermo confronting Fede, having realized that some of his men have vanished. His fury is further fueled by Solaz's failure to prevent Carol from openly voicing her disdain for the Alliance. Accusing the town of losing faith in the Alliance, Guillermo threatens to wipe them out unless they demonstrate their loyalty. Fede, in an attempt to pacify him, offers to search for the missing men. Alone, Fede suspects Carol and Daryl are behind the disappearances and is eager to see them gone without delay.
At Antonio's place, he confides in Carol that her knack for stirring up trouble is endearing. Carol, however, is preoccupied with the town's and the girls' safety. Daryl, on the other hand, tries to steer her focus back to their plan of escaping home. Nearby, Roberto comforts Justina, who is racked with guilt over Alba's fate. He presents her with a compass, and they decide to embark on a new journey together. Observing their affectionate exchange, Daryl can't help but feel a tinge of responsibility. Accompanied by Roberto, Daryl sets out to repair the boat, and amidst the horde of walkers, they spot a Walker Manual.
The duo meets with Valentina, the boat captain, who harbors a deep-seated animosity towards the Alcazar. Her sarcastic demeanor and free-spirited nature are evident. She agrees to assist them in exchange for gunpowder, though she believes the boat is beyond repair. Impressed by Daryl's determination, she nevertheless hits a roadblock when he refuses to let Roberto and Justina join them. Valentina retracts her offer, compelling Daryl to acquiesce to Roberto's demands.
Carol is tasked with stealing a solar panel to power the boat, and she is plagued by guilt over robbing Antonio. He tends to her wounds, and during their conversation, she learns about the longstanding feud between him and Fede, as well as the tragic accident that claimed his wife's life. Carol finds herself drawn to him, but he remains guarded, knowing she is set on leaving.
Meanwhile, Elena and Paz share an intimate moment. Elena bears bruises on her body, which upsets Paz. Despite her fear of Guillermo, Elena promises to meet Paz one last time before her departure.
Daryl and Roberto embark on a scavenging mission for parts. Roberto shares his dreams of America and his admiration for Bruce Springsteen, much to Daryl's amusement. Yet, Daryl remains convinced that fleeing is a perilous choice. He reveals his own attempts to escape in the past, emphasizing the harsh realities of going it alone. Nevertheless, Roberto is resolute, driven by his desire to explore the world with Justina.
Carol is startled by a noise, only to discover Antonio nestled in a makeshift theater, lost in the glow of an old movie. A true cinema aficionado, Antonio extends an invitation for her to join him, waxing poetic about how cinema serves as a timeless emblem of humanity and the bygone eras. This nostalgic reverie prompts Carol to think of Jerry.
Meanwhile, at the boatyard, Daryl and Roberto are engaged in the arduous task of dismantling a boat to salvage a rudder. The cacophony of their efforts draws a horde of walkers, prompting Daryl to urge a hasty retreat. Yet, Roberto clings stubbornly to the rudder. As Roberto scrambles to retrieve it, Daryl valiantly holds off the walkers. In the aftermath, Roberto is left reeling from the harrowing experience, but Daryl is there to offer solace.
Back at home, Justina remains embroiled in a feud with Fede over his attempts to keep her away from Roberto. Her grandmother, Marga, tries to mediate, explaining that Fede's actions stem from a desire to protect her. Just then, Justina sustains an injury. Marga instructs her to fetch the first aid kit from Fede's study. While there, Justina stumbles upon a list of Ofrenda winners from years past, revealing a shocking truth—she had been chosen four times, yet Fede had always selected another girl to be sent to the Alcazar. Devastated by this betrayal, Justina sets off in search of Roberto.
Instead, she finds Carol and, in a moment of vulnerability, confides in her. Overwhelmed by guilt and a deep-seated loathing for the Ofrenda tradition, Justina pours her heart out. Carol, empathizing with the feeling of powerlessness, urges her to let it go. However, Justina appears resolute, ending the conversation on a somber note.
That evening, Antonio orchestrates an elegant dinner for Carol, eager to assist her in any way he can, citing his debt to her for saving Roberto. Their conversation inevitably turns to Justina and Roberto. Antonio, understanding Justina's guilt, voices his concern that she might volunteer herself as a substitute for Alba. Carol suddenly realizes that this is precisely what Justina intends to do.
On his way back, Daryl chances upon a statue of a saint. He places Laurent's Rubik's cube among the other offerings, silently praying for Laurent's safety. In this moment of contemplation, he finds common ground with Roberto, sharing tales of Ohio and painting a picture of how the young couple might find solace in America.
At the conclusion of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 Episode 3, Carol and Antonio rush to the town square in a frantic bid to intervene. The Alcazar is departing prematurely due to their recent losses. Fede is distraught to learn that Justina has volunteered herself, yet he is powerless to stop her. Carol watches helplessly as Justina is taken away, her heart heavy with a sense of impending doom.
