Episode 7 of "The Witch" kicks off with Dong-jin meticulously observing Mi-jeong's solitary daily existence. It becomes evident that she lacks companionship, interacting solely with Eun-sil and embarking on a solitary bus journey once a month. The narrative then shifts to the present, where Dong-jin crosses paths with Mi-jeong for the initial time while delivering a package. He assists her in verifying her order, using the opportunity to time himself in her proximity.

The Witch – K-drama Episode 7 1

Days unfold, with Dong-jin persistently testing the boundaries of how long he can safely remain near Mi-jeong. Through his experiments, he establishes that a ten-minute stint within ten meters of her poses no immediate danger. Driven to explore further, he decides to exceed this limit by staying for 10 minutes and 14 seconds. However, as he departs, his luck takes a turn for the worse; he stumbles on the stairs, resulting in a broken ankle.

Upon his next delivery, Mi-jeong attempts to pay by card, and Dong-jin finds himself growing increasingly tense as he nears his ten-minute threshold. Providentially, they conclude the transaction just within the limit, enabling him to exit the premises unscathed. Yet, despite adhering strictly to his self-imposed rules, fate intervenes again, causing a signboard to crash down upon him.

While confined to the hospital, Dong-jin ponders over what went awry during his last encounter with Mi-jeong. He hypothesizes that the frequency of their interactions might have triggered the series of misfortunes. Meanwhile, Mi-jeong, who eagerly anticipated his arrival, is left crestfallen by his absence.

Determined to revalidate his hypothesis despite the odds, Dong-jin adopts stringent safety measures. He adorns himself in a fortified biker suit, complete with an enhanced helmet, and embarks on a rigorous fitness regimen. Upon his reunion with Mi-jeong, he meticulously tallies their interactions, surpassing the tenfold mark this time. However, fate seems intent on thwarting his endeavors, as he is entangled in another mishap, landing him once again in the hospital's confines.

Eun-sil, who visits him there, scrutinizes his findings and, driven by concern, exhorts him to abandon his perilous experiment. Once discharged and back home, Dong-jin recalls it's the day of Mi-jeong's customary bus journey. Stealthily, he tails her, securing the final empty seat on the bus, maintaining a cautious 11-meter distance.

Yet, as twilight descends and the weather takes a turn for the worse on the return trip, Mi-jeong offers her seat to an elderly lady, compelling her to relocate further back in the bus. Unbeknownst to her, this action inadvertently narrows the gap between her and Dong-jin. As the bus becomes ensnared in gridlock, Dong-jin realizes that time is slipping through his fingers like water. Recognizing that staying enclosed within the bus could spell doom, he resorts to a daring escape, leaping out through the window in a fit of desperation.

To his misfortune, Mi-jeong recognizes him in that fleeting moment, shattering nearly every convention of their "fatal encounter." Counting on statistical data that assures the Han River remains untouched by lightning, Dong-jin takes one final, fateful gamble and plunges into the river's icy embrace, leaving the episode on a cliffhanger.
