Detective Lane appears and promptly issues Anna a restraining order, acknowledging her lenient treatment after breaking into Neil's house. Once the officers depart, Rex reveals more of the intricate plot. He believes Chastity staged her own death, a ploy to deter Rex from pursuing her so she could retain Neil's entire fortune. Their collaboration as con artists had been a long-term scheme.
Back then, Rex performed as a stripper in a club, while Chastity worked the bar. She persuaded him to join her elaborate ruse, duping various men by convincing them that Rex was her brother, suffering from a rare blood condition and needing funds for an experimental treatment. She targeted her victims from obituary sections, and that's how she came across Neil and Emma.
Rex's resolve began to falter, but as his name was on all the bank accounts, escaping wasn't feasible. Lisa knew this and had been manipulating him the entire time. It was then that Anna and Rex unexpectedly found solace in each other's arms. Meanwhile, Carol catches them in an embrace by the front door, her gasp echoing through the silence.
As the episode draws to a close, we shift to the woods, where Lisa's lifeless body is discovered. Her face uncovered, a dog's howl pierces the stillness, adding a haunting note to this already mysterious tale.
