Episode 6 of The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window begins with Anna stirring from a deep slumber, only to find Rex downstairs, lost in the art of cooking. Their serene morning idyll was abruptly shattered by the harsh interruption of Detective Lane, who swiftly apprehended Rex, secured him with handcuffs, and charged him with the murder of Chastity.

It was revealed that the Financial Crimes Unit had been keeping a watchful eye on Rex and Chastity for quite some time. As soon as Lane and his team received the directive to apprehend Rex, they seized the opportunity without hesitation. Adding further weight to the case was the damning audio evidence of Rex threatening Chastity, openly declaring his intention to eliminate her. Lane also uncovered that Rex had a burner phone, used to concoct a deceitful alibi, explaining the misleading text messages. With a gentle nudge, Lane urged Anna to reclaim control of her life and then departed.

Determined to make a fresh start, Anna vowed to abstain from alcohol and embarked on a journey of self-improvement. After a rejuvenating manicure-pedicure session with Sloane, Anna headed home, where Buell accidentally jammed a nail into his palm. As he patched up his wound, Buell opened up to Anna, sharing heartfelt stories about his parents, but adding, "Those are tales for another day."

Anna paid her respects to Elizabeth at the graveyard, where Neil and Emma unexpectedly appeared. Initially intending to leave a casserole for her daughter, Anna reconsidered and handed it over to Emma instead. As she walked away, she noticed the gravestone now inscribed with the profound words, "There's no 'I' in heaven."

At the crime scene, Detective Lane and his team uncovered a murder weapon, a discovery that dramatically shifted the course of the investigation. They had initially overlooked it, but this newfound evidence prompted Lane and Officer Spitz to visit Anna. With Anna present, Lane disclosed that they had released Rex due to his impeccable alibi. It was discovered that he was, indeed, dancing at a bar at the time of the murder. However, Anna emerged as their prime suspect. Close to the body, they found a palette knife, and Anna appeared to have painted a portrait titled "The Perfect Family," depicting herself, Neil, and Emma. Yet, Anna was clueless about the painting and began to unravel the mystery.

Something was amiss, but for the moment, Anna was escorted to the station for interrogation.
