To the Moon – K-drama Episode 2 1

Later that night, Eun-sang drifts into a dream where her young daughter appears, urging her to invest in crypto. The child’s words echo with a sense of urgency: "Timing is everything," she warns. As dawn breaks, Da-hae's mother makes an unexpected visit to her daughter's home, fussing over the state of her place. The conversation quickly turns to the topic of marriage, only for Da-hae's mother to discover, to her surprise, that Da-hae and Byeong-jun have parted ways. She seizes the moment to caution Da-hae against following in her father's footsteps—a man who embarked on numerous business ventures, watched them all crumble, and eventually fled. This is precisely why Da-hae had been so wary of get-rich-quick schemes like crypto. Yet, after her chat with Eun-sang, she finds herself purchasing a cryptocurrency named Enderium, only to watch its value plummet steadily.

At work, Da-hae receives a glimmer of hope when she learns that her proposal for a Children’s Day event has made the shortlist, alongside her teammate, Da-hee. Da-hee, a permanent fixture on the team beloved by all and known for her habit of bringing everyone coffee, poses stiff competition. Securing the win would mean a fast-track promotion, and Da-hae's hopes soar.

Meanwhile, Eun-sang, ever the problem-solver, takes on the daunting task of unclogging a stubborn toilet, as the cleaning crew is on strike. She rallies the other two women and treats them to lunch. Once again, Eun-sang reiterates her crypto-investing mantra. Unbeknownst to her companions, Da-hae has already taken the plunge with Enderium. When Eun-sang mentions the concept of the J curve—a pattern where initial losses are followed by substantial gains—Da-hae decides to hold onto her Enderium for a little longer, hoping for a turnaround.

During a lively discussion within the marketing team, it was revealed that Ham Ji-woo would be one of the judges for the Children’s Day proposals, joining forces with other top company leaders. An employee recounted how Ji-woo, the executive director, had been the mastermind behind several of the company’s most successful products. Meanwhile, back in the accounting department, Ji-song found herself in a minor clash with a colleague. Later, that same colleague ordered her to chase after a manager to deliver some documents. In her haste, Ji-song broke her shoes and badly stubbed her toes. To add insult to injury, it turned out the manager already had all the papers she was supposed to deliver.

The next day at work, Eun-sang’s team managed to clinch a deal with an Arab company. When their restaurant reservation was unexpectedly postponed, Eun-sang stepped in to entertain the Arab guests by using Marron Confectionary’s snacks to whip up some small yet exquisite appetizers. Later, the translator praised Eun-sang for her resourcefulness and inquired if she would be around the following year. Eun-sang quipped that she would be going to the moon.

After practicing late into the night for her presentation, Da-hae finally headed home. On the way, she called her mother and, in a fit of frustration, yelled at her for not getting her back checked. Her phone call irritated a homeless man nearby, who then began following her and attempted to force his way into her home. Da-hae managed to dial 911, but amidst the chaos, her bathroom flooded, submerging her laptop and wiping out all her files.

Once the police had taken the man away, Da-hae’s friends arrived to lend a hand as she reconstructed her presentation from scratch. The next day, Da-hae presented her idea to Ham Ji-woo and the other company leaders. After she finished, Ham Ji-woo recalled that during her interview, Da-hae had promised to work hard. He noted that she had repeated the same sentiment now, adding that working hard should be part of the journey, not merely the end goal. In the end, it was Da-hee who emerged victorious in the proposal competition.

During the subsequent karaoke celebration, Ye-jin, an intern, confided in Da-hae that she had overheard the others saying the competition was always destined to favor permanent employees over a temporary hire like Da-hae. This revelation left Da-hae feeling disheartened, and she ended up getting quite drunk. In her inebriated state, she confronted Da-hee. When the oblivious Da-hee advised her to keep working hard, Da-hae’s anger flared, and she raised her hand as if to strike the other girl. It was Ham Ji-woo who intervened, preventing the altercation from escalating.

Da-hae was convinced she had truly hit rock bottom—until a glimmer of hope flickered on her phone screen. Enderium's value was soaring, carving out a steep J-shaped curve on the charts. With renewed excitement, she rushed to Eun-sang's house to share the news. Eun-sang, however, wasn't impressed; she scolded Da-hae for her meager investment, insisting she had missed a golden opportunity. To drive home her point, they headed out for a meal of spicy tteokbeokki, with Eun-sang determined to illustrate just how life-changing the crypto gains could be for Da-hae.

Suddenly, a throbbing pain erupted in Da-hae's forehead, jolting her out of the moment. A flashback swept over her, transporting her to the scene where Ji-woo had intervened, preventing her from lashing out at Da-hee. His curiosity burned bright as he pressed her for answers about the song she'd belted out during karaoke, but Da-hae was in no mood to dwell on it. When he added insistence that she needed to step up her game for the upcoming presentation, frustration boiled over. In a sudden burst of emotion, she lunged at him, slamming her forehead into his with a resounding thud.
