Tokyo Vice – Season 2 Episode 7 1

After the festivities, Jake learns that his sister, Jess, has been hospitalized for a few weeks, her condition a source of concern. He vows to be by her side during his stay at home, a promise of unwavering support.

Meanwhile, Eimi tasks Tin Tin with delving into Baku's archives, suspecting him of acting against the paper's interests and harboring ties to Tozawa. Samantha, desperate for funds as the insurance company delays payment, approaches Luna with a proposal to absorb Onyx's girls into her fold. However, Luna refuses, citing her earlier warning against Samantha's entanglement with the yakuza. Their conversation is cut short by a swarm of photographers chasing Samantha through the streets.

In a pivotal moment for Samantha's character, she watches Akira's rise to stardom on television, fuming over the fact that he had stolen money she had saved for her club. This betrayal fuels her resolve.

Samantha and Sato embark on a new chapter in their relationship, with her encouraging him to be firm with Kaito, even if it means creating a rift between them. Her plans are clear: to raise funds, rebuild the club, and safeguard the welfare of the girls.

At Ishida's funeral, Tozawa makes an unexpected appearance, mocking Hayama over the recent incident. The new, fiery boss is eager for revenge and makes his intentions known at a subsequent meeting. Sato, however, stands firm, arguing that an unprovoked attack would alienate them from other yakuza factions.

However, Hayama remained unyielding, compelling even Kaito to align with his will. Katagiri kept tight-lipped about the shooter from the club, but his reveal came when he confessed that Tozawa had offered him a bribe to eliminate Ishida. He presented the shooter with a stark choice: face the death penalty for four murders or cooperate with the police in exchange for a reduced sentence of 20 years. Faced with this choice, the shooter opted for the latter. In a stroke of luck, Katagiri managed to retrieve the murder weapon from the shooter's hiding spot.

Nagata's persuasive skills secured a reduced sentence from the DA, setting the stage for a significant police operation against Tozawa. As they prepared to escort him to the courthouse, Tozawa's shooters, perched on a bike, struck through the window, fatally wounding him. Despite the immense disappointment, the duo persevered, delving into Tozawa's communication tapes. Katagiri excitedly presented Jake with a snippet where Tozawa received a call from a hospital in Southern Minneapolis. Despite being on a no-fly list to the US, this served as credible evidence that he had indeed sought treatment for his liver disease.

Sato and Kaito reconciled, with the younger brother agreeing to steer clear of Hayama. Sato's revelation of the failed attempt on Tozawa's life seemed convincing enough. But fate had other plans for Sato, as Hayama's discovery of his remarks led to a brutal beating in front of the entire organization, banishing him from their ranks.

Collaborating on a school project with Jess, Jake received a frantic call from Katagiri, urging him to fly to a location an hour and a half away before Tozawa could reach them. Jake hesitated but grasped the gravity of the situation. At the hospital, he encountered Dr. Walker, a friend of his father Eddie's. Jake's interest piqued when he spotted an expensive watch on Walker's wrist. Katagiri surmised that Tozawa must have bribed someone to procure a liver transplant, strongly suspecting it was Walker. He urged Jake to leave the country immediately and return to Tokyo, warning that if Tozawa consolidated his power, the trail would go cold.

Jake reluctantly informed Eddie of his plans to fly back to Tokyo. Eddie was enraged and deeply disappointed, reflecting the conflict Jake faced between family and duty. The episode concluded on a grim note, revealing that Kaito, now a member of the Chihara-kai, had been dispatched on a hit, narrowly escaping death as he froze in the moment of taking a life.
