Tracker – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Since their encounter, Jackson has undergone a transformation, neglecting his work, straining his relationships at home, and now, he's vanished without a trace. As Colter delves into the case, he finds himself grappling with his own personal troubles. Ignoring his brother Russell's repeated attempts to reach out, Colter becomes increasingly worried when his mother reports attempted break-ins at their home. Someone has taken something from his father Ashton's dusty old office, leaving him puzzled and alarmed.

In his investigation, Colter consults with Bobby and learns that Rebecca's real last name is Penderghast, a woman with a criminal past involving insurance fraud. Alarmingly, Jackson recently took out a life insurance policy naming Rebecca as the beneficiary. Armed with her address, Colter heads to her house but instead stumbles upon a bizarre room filled with computers displaying live feeds of various individuals, including Jackson. The scene is unsettling, but before Colter can dig deeper, two armed men, hired private security, arrive to escort him out.

Forced to leave the premises, Colter follows one of the security guards to an event, where he discovers that Rebecca is a member of an organization called Positive Light. Its charismatic leader, Seth Adler, is a spiritual and motivational speaker who promises to help individuals like Jackson overcome emotional stagnation and tragic events in their lives. To Colter, the nature of their scheme is clear, but before he can confront Rebecca, she manages to slip away in her car.

The next day, Colter visits the headquarters of Positive Light, located on the outskirts of the city. The night before, he had made it clear to Jackson's parents that they could only persuade their son to change his mind about staying at the facility, not forcibly remove him. Upon his arrival, Colter finds Rebecca and Seth prepared for his visit, having conducted a thorough background check on him. Although most of the information is superficial, Colter is intrigued when Seth insinuates that his mother is keeping secrets about the reason behind Ashton's dismissal from his job.

Rebecca grudgingly allows Colter to meet with Jackson, who now appears brainwashed and serene, with no trace of doubt or regret in his demeanor. Colter pleads with him to return home, but Jackson remains resolute in his decision to remain at the facility. Bobby informs Colter that Positive Light is deeply involved in fraudulent activities, with multiple pending litigations and a history of financial malfeasance. Furthermore, it is revealed that the organization's interest in Jackson stems from the fact that their former accountant, David Grassley, has passed away, leaving a void that Jackson is now filling.

The circumstances surrounding his untimely demise remain shrouded in mystery, necessitating a further investigation. Given that his widow, Yana, resides in the vicinity of Wyoming, Colter entrusted the task of speaking with her to Teddi and Velma. That evening, Colter received an urgent message from Jackson, who desired a meeting. However, it transpired to be a ruse orchestrated by Rebecca, utilizing Jackson's phone. She issued a final warning to Colter, admonishing him to steer clear, threatening him with the unrelenting brutality of the organization.

Unperturbed, Colter departed, but not before Velma and Teddi briefed him on their findings from their conversation with Yana. Yana revealed that Positive Light had eliminated David due to his intention to quit after discovering the organization's deceitful motives. Seth had secreted all physical evidence pertaining to David's murder within his office at the headquarters, along with files documenting his encounters with every individual he had ever met. This was the destination Colter was now heading towards.

Colter cleverly coerced a henchman trailing him to sneak him into the facility undetected. Once inside, he expertly bound the henchman and concealed him in the trunk of his car. Colter then embarked on a meticulous search, successfully retrieving incriminating evidence against Seth and Rebecca from the files. To his surprise, he also discovered a dossier dedicated to him, which he promptly confiscated.

Swiftly, Colter dispatched a location pin to Teddi, prompting her to alert the police. Meanwhile, he revealed the truth to Jackson, who was engrossed in some undisclosed work on the floor above. However, Seth and Rebecca soon became aware of Colter's infiltration and confronted him at gunpoint. Jackson, enraged by the revelation, lunged at Rebecca, affording Colter a fleeting opportunity to neutralize the threat.

In the aftermath, Colter was reunited with his beloved family, while Seth was apprehended and brought to justice. Before departing for his next assignment, Colter cast a fleeting glance at his dossier, a testament to the complexities and dangers he had navigated.
