They spill out into the open, where Reporter Wang is poised to capture the dramatic confrontation live on video. The police arrive promptly, and Lee Do hastily urges them to hold their fire, requesting a moment to reason with Hyun-sik.

Trigger – K-Drama Episode 9 1

Overwhelmed by sorrow, Hyun-sik's mind drifts back to a pivotal moment: when he implored Lee Do not to kill the perpetrator of his family's murder, begging him instead to consider his future. Drawing from this memory, Lee Do reminds Hyun-sik of his own words, appealing to him that Lee Do still needs him, gradually soothing his agitation.

Meanwhile, Moon-baek watches the unfolding scene from the confines of his car, his expectations hanging in the balance. When Hyun-sik refrains from pulling the trigger, Moon-baek's desired outcome remains elusive. Enraged, Moon-baek storms the scene with his men, unleashing a hail of bullets that strike the police officers, Hyun-sik, and Lee Do.

With the chaos at its peak, Moon-baek addresses the nation through Reporter Wang, pledging to distribute guns freely, to both locals and foreigners alike, without any strings attached. Following the incident, Lee Do is rushed to the hospital in dire straits.

Moon-baek's initiative sparks a nationwide firearm distribution. Influencers and ordinary citizens alike share videos of unboxing and testing their new weapons, a testament to the normalization of gun ownership. In one courtroom, a woman interrupts a sentencing hearing, objecting to a mere three-year sentence meted out to a suspect who had wronged her. Drawing a gun, she shoots the suspect in cold blood. On the subway, passengers no longer bat an eyelid when a vendor brandishes a firearm; instead, they eagerly line up to purchase one. In another home, a father returns for his daughter's birthday only to find her innocently playing with a gun.

The scenes paint a chilling portrait of a society on the brink, where the line between right and wrong has blurred, and firearms have become as commonplace as toys.

Consequently, the president is compelled to proclaim a state of emergency. Citizens, polarized into two factions—one advocating for gun legalization and the other vehemently opposing it—begin staging rallies, plunging the nation into turmoil. Despite the upheaval, Moon-baek's shipments of firearms arrive unscathed, prompting him to instruct his henchmen to ready themselves for the next phase of his grand scheme.

In the hospital's corridors, a nurse, who has been enduring relentless bullying from her colleagues, continues to diligently attend to her patients with unwavering commitment. One of her tormentors thrusts a pile of forms at her, glued to a piece of paper, insisting she complete them by nightfall as they are crucial for an upcoming evaluation. Reluctantly, she informs her bully of her mandatory night shift, only to be met with sarcasm. The bully mocks, claiming the tasks are simple and could be dispatched swiftly; failing to do so would merely highlight her incompetence. With a heavy heart, the nurse concedes and retreats to her locker room, where she retrieves a concealed package containing a firearm.

Elsewhere, Moon-baek convenes a gathering of gang leaders. With a gun in hand, he propositions a chilling challenge: whoever seizes the weapon and pulls the trigger on him will earn the status of his partner. One brave—or desperate—soul accepts, taking the gun and firing. Moon-baek's men swiftly eliminate the remaining gang leaders, sparing only the shooter. He then bestows upon him a phone, instructing him to answer every call promptly.

Within the hospital walls, Lee Do regains his senses, only to be met with the harrowing news of Hyun-sik's demise. By the climactic conclusion of Trigger Episode 9, Lee Do finds himself attending Hyun-sik and his daughter's funeral, a poignant testament to the loss and sorrow woven into the fabric of this tumultuous narrative.
