Turn of the Tide – Season 2 Episode 5 1

The government's relentless push to demolish the tea garden sees Joe resorting to violence to evict the construction workers. However, a newspaper report about Orlando's disappearance prompts him to realize he must return for Eduardo.

Rafael endeavors to put his life back on track, urging his AA group to launch multiple campaigns for AIDS and drug awareness. Although he has replaced his addiction with Tamagotchis, he finds himself unable to resist the urge to kill them. His desire to marry Silvia worries Father Antonio, who sees Rafael's behavior as fickle.

Ofelia cunningly entices Silvia into another drug shipment, using the argument that raising a child is expensive. This persuades Silvia to accept the deal and she enlists the help of her friends. When they refuse, she manipulates Carlos and Rafael into helping her. Eduardo enlists Frias's aid, asking her to see the situation through so they can apprehend Ofelia. Consequently, Eduardo is on board as well.

Frias breaks into Orlando's office and discovers Arruda's case file, realizing there's a dirty cop involved. She shares this insight only with Francisco, who reveals that the DA has an anti-drugs stance and can aid in raiding the new shipment.

Frias' daughter, Mariana, is nursing a broken heart as her boyfriend has moved away, leaving her in a state of emotional turmoil. Frias, exhausted from being the sole investigator into Orlando's disappearance and the recent drug shipment, tries to be there for her, but her distraction is palpable.

Eduardo, berated by his mother for his callousness, takes it upon himself to help Carlos, who has been constantly high and hanging out at the dealer's place. The dealer, Canina, is more than just a drug dealer; he's a record producer who has Carlos sign a contract and record some songs. But when Rafael and Eduardo barge in and take Carlos away, Canina suggests that he's been spying on them with Frias, causing Carlos to panic.

Joe returns home and offers to help Carlos get clean, and in the process, he teaches him how to defend himself. Meanwhile, Eduardo arrives with flight tickets for Mexico, apologizing to Carlos for everything that happened and they patch things up.

Mariana longs for her mother's company, and Frias promises that after that night, she will have time for her daughter.

On the night of the shipment, Eduardo remembers his father and promises to do the right thing. He tries to buy Canina's silence, but when the dealer toys with him, Eduardo locks him up. Father Antonio actually believes in Rafael and we see that they are planning a protest. However, he waits in vain for Rafael who never shows up. The boy is with Silvia, leaving Eduardo and Carlos to handle the shipment alone.

With the direct control of a SWAT team secured from Lisbon courtesy of the District Attorney, Frias and Francisco find themselves in the driver's seat. Banha, however, is miffed at being left in the dark and Frias taunts him with a wry smile, implying that she was aware of his sabotage during Ofelia's takedown, done for Orlando's benefit. The moment of truth arrives as the drug dealers in the plane hover above, ready for their pickup. Despite a minor hitch, Rafael expertly fires the flare, signaling the position of his boat to both the dealers and Frias. The SWAT team moves in swiftly, surrounding the plane with a tactical precision that belies their urgency. The air is charged with anticipation as the plane hovers, waiting for the next move to unfold.
