In the eighth episode of "Twelve," we are again taken on a narrative journey through the formation of the twelve angels, their relentless battles against Darkness and his minions, and the pivotal moment of sealing the Hellmouth. We know the story well—the world was saved, the angels lost their powers in the process of sealing the Hellmouth, and Samin, in a tragic twist, reopened it once more.
Now, we find ourselves back in Seoul, where humans continue to be plagued by demonic possession. Ogwi watches over the Taesan building as the angels engage in a fierce struggle with their possessed kin on the streets. Amidst this chaos, Man-bok steps in to save a little boy, his act of bravery a testament to the resilience of humanity.
The battle between Tae-san and Samin is a grueling one. In the first round, Samin and his minions overwhelm Tae-san, leaving the tiger severely injured. Ogwi, driven by his love for Mirr, steps in to help—but even with his newfound powers, he is no match for Samin. Samin stabs him, shattering his wings, and Mirr is powerless to intervene, witnessing the tragedy in horror. In his final moments, Ogwi's thoughts are only of saving Mirr, a promise he kept true even in death.
Upstairs, the other angels grapple with their possessed siblings, their strength augmented by their demonic possession. Tae-san seizes a brief respite as Ogwi and Samin engage in their deadly dance. Fueled by anger and sorrow, Tae-san rises once more to face Samin. This time, his determination is unyielding, and he emerges victorious, slaying Samin with a final blow.
As Samin dissipates into nothingness, Mirr's soul stone returns to her body. She struggles to her feet, rushing to Ogwi's side. With Samin's defeat, the demons flee, and those possessed—including the angels—return to their former selves. Once again, the angels seal the Hellmouth and relinquish their powers.
The angels, after a long journey, finally find their way back to their beloved siblings. The reunion is a celebration of joy and relief, with Tae-san's tears flowing as he sees his family whole once again. The world settles into its normal rhythm, and the angels resume their daily lives, albeit with a touch of adjustment to the human world. Fortunately, their siblings are more than willing to be their guides and helpers.
Bang-wool regains her voice, a beautiful metaphor for the rejuvenation of their family bond. Tae-san finds his happiness anew, returning to his mission of helping humans. He even goes the extra mile, donating to a children's orphanage and arranging a team dinner at Geum-soon's new restaurant.
The climax of Twelve comes when Mirr returns to the cave where she used to meet Ogwi. There, she witnesses a dark spirit rising, its intent unclear. The scene shifts to Tae-san sensing an evil presence outside his building, and with a malevolent intent, the spirit wreaks havoc on the offices on its way to Ogwi's body in the basement.
The series concludes with Ogwi's heart beating steadily and his body slowly mending, a symbol of hope and redemption amidst the chaos.
