Typhoon Family – K-drama Episode 16 1

In the present, the team gathers for a ramen-fueled celebration in the same office, Myung-gwan recounting how Bak-ho's lone ship met with an unfortunate accident, plunging him close to financial ruin. As they delve into the papers obtained from Pyo Merchant Marine's office, they uncover a shocking trove of personal information on each member of the team.

Their investigations lead them to a surprising revelation: Hyun-jun has struck a deal with Mark Choi, a foreigner eager to sell a portable media player but in need of Gang-sik's patented cooling fan due to its overheating issues. This deal propels Hyun-jun towards Dabontech, seeking its patents to provide to Mark Choi, who promises a sum large enough for Hyun-jun to purchase a merchant ship.

Tae-poong hatches a cunning plan: to make the patent publicly available, thus rendering Mark Choi's dependence on Hyun-jun's help moot. This would allow them to use the auction as a means to reclaim Dabontech from the clutches of Mark's greed.

With Tae-poong's persuasive charm, Gang-sik agrees to relinquish the patent. Meanwhile, Mi-seon and Seon-taek file the papers for a new venture named Miseon Trading, which they will use as their trump card at the auction. Song-jung sends out an announcement on the cooling fans, setting the stage for an epic showdown.

The day of the auction arrives, and Tae-poong strides in, handing Mark a newspaper that reveals the newly public cooling fan technology. Mark realizes his predicament and bids low on the auction, allowing Tae-poong to triumphantly reclaim Dabontech for his family.

Certainly, Hyun-jun's fury boiled over, but when Tae-poong reassures Mark that the fan can still be utilized, Mark wryly notes that universally available technology is not for sale. As the Typhoon Trading team rejoices, Hyun-jun finds himself in a predicament, having already made a down payment on the ship. He instructs Manager Ha to liquidate everything, including the Typhoon Trading business itself.

As Hyun-jun signs the paperwork for closure, Tae-poong bursts in and shreds the document to pieces. Later, Hyun-jun confides in his father that he used their office building as collateral to purchase the ship. A conversation with Manager Ha reveals a sinister plan to send him to an obscure hospital in the middle of nowhere.

Meanwhile, the Typhoon Trading team sneaks into Pyo Merchant Marine's container yard, disguised as workers and steals the container. Once the truck is out of sight, Tae-poong releases Bak-ho and shows him the promissory note. Tae-poong proposes a deal: if Bak-ho testifies that the note was given to him on the agreed day, both Pyo Merchant Marine and Typhoon Trading can go their separate ways.

Bak-ho remains noncommittal, but Tae-poong lets him go, knowing he will continue to fight for Typhoon Trading regardless. Meanwhile, Mi-ho visits Nam-mo's shop and returns all the gifts he had given her. She provides him with an address and a date, inviting him to meet there.

In the morning, Manager Ha and Hyun-jun are met with a shocking revelation when they find Bak-ho back in his seat. To their dismay, the police arrive and arrest them for malpractice, embezzlement, and for the arson from earlier episodes.

Tae-poong returns to the Typhoon Trading office, bearing a freshly engraved nameplate for himself, marking his official reunion with the team. Cha Seon-taek joins the fray, reuniting the family unit wholeheartedly. Mi-ho follows the address Nam-mo provided, arriving at a music competition where he showcases his talents as a contestant. He sings a love song called "Wolf Star" dedicated to her, captivating the audience with his melodic voice. Later, he vows to chase his dreams, even if they don't guarantee wealth, and promises to stand by Mi-ho's side through thick and thin.

In the office, the Typhoon Trading team brainstorms new products for their sales lineup, from a compact music player to Mi-seon's beloved new face oil. The meeting also sheds light on the blossoming relationship between Mi-seon and Tae-poong.

At home, Beom is crestfallen by the impending wedding of Mi-ho and Nam-mo. Jeong-mi comforts him while the couple meets Bun-mi, who extends her blessing to them. Meanwhile, Tae-poong and Mi-seon exchange gifts – she gives him a set of flower seeds, while he presents her with workbooks as she aspires to attend college. However, Tae-poong declares that his dream is now rooted in Typhoon Trading, and he no longer needs flowers. Similarly, Mi-seon is content with her job and no longer feels the urge for a degree.

As they explore new apartments together, Jeong-mi suggests waiting for a larger space that can accommodate everyone, including Bun-mi and Beom. We then witness Typhoon Trading participating in a reality show titled "Experience Life on Site," where they melt iron to create cauldrons from scratch. They then appear on the show and donate the proceeds from their efforts.

The show skips ahead to 2002, mimicking the opening scene of episode 1, as a TV program showcases Typhoon Trading's survival amidst the IMF crisis. The company is thriving and boasts more employees than before. They are now considering venturing into computer game sales.

Elsewhere, Jeong-mi attends an award ceremony at Beom's school where he receives an award for his family portrait drawing. The episode concludes with the Typhoon Trading team joyously united as Tae-poong's inner monologue reflects on how these people have become his "flowers" now and how together they can achieve anything as long as they don't give up.
