The second episode of the drama opens with a solemn hush as each character grieves the loss of Jin-young. As Tae-poong wallows in his sorrow, a flashback transports us to a park, where Jin-young shows a young Tae-poong the petals gently drifting down from a tree. Despite Tae-poong's boredom, Jin-young explains how the falling petals are beautiful because they are trying to bear fruit.

Typhoon Family – K-drama Episode 2 1

At the funeral, a brash CEO named Mr. Choi barges in and orders his men to seize the condolence money, claiming that Jin-young owes him an unpaid balance. Mi-seon steps in, stopping them by proving that the payment is not due for a few days yet. Pyo Bak-ho also makes an appearance, with a flashback showing him visiting a comatose Jin-young in the hospital and asking him where "it" is.

Things take a turn for the worse as the nation reels from the aftermath. Nam-mo's mother is put on standby at her job at the bank. When Tae-poong goes to the office to collect his father's things, CEO Choi reappears, demanding payment once again. This time, Tae-poong takes responsibility for paying the money by a certain date and even signs a joint surety, claiming he's an employee and can legally sign the document.

As he returns home, he discovers that the electricity has been cut off, and the phone keeps ringing with creditors calling for Jin-young's unpaid debts. At Mi-seon's house, Mi-ho is upset to realize that Mi-seon has given up on the college entrance exam due to their inability to afford the tuition fees.

Returning to the office, Tae-point stumbles upon a discreet key that unlocks a hidden cupboard, revealing a safe within. The next day, Tae-poong sits in the office, immersed in a puzzle to decipher the safe's combination. When he inquires among the employees for significant numbers, Mi-seon offers 2072, recalling how Jin-young had aspired for the company's centennial. That evening, Tae-poong tries his luck with the code, and to his relief, it works. Inside, he discovers a collection of savings account booklets for the employees and one for himself.

The following lunchtime, Tae-poong arrives at the office and invites Mi-seon to join him for a meal. As they sit down, he shares a profound realization about the company's significance to his father's legacy. He then asks her to guide him through the intricacies of the company's operations.

After lunch, Mi-seon shares with Tae-poong his father's final words to her: that he had faith in Tae-poong's success and entrusted her with his care. We then witness Jin-young's heartfelt note within Tae-poong's savings account booklet. He addresses Tae-poong as his most cherished person and urges him to find happiness. The note moves Tae-poong to tears.

Regaining his composure in his professional attire, Tae-poong joins Manager Go Ma-jin and Mi-seon at the docks to collect the shipment of luxurious cloth from the Italian company.

Their journey leads them to their next destination: Daebang Textiles. Tae-poong and Mi-seon arrive at the office ahead of schedule, Go Ma-jin and the anticipated Italian cloth delivery still nowhere in sight. As they wait, Tae-poong's keen eye picks up on a troubling omen. For a company that's turned 30, the office is too immaculate, a stark contrast to the signs of struggle that linger: the heat off, the fax machine lifeless.

Without hesitation, Tae-poong bolts back outside, standing in the middle of the road, a human barrier against the incoming trucks. He warns Ma-jin of the potential paycheck disaster, but his words fall on deaf ears. In a final act of desperation, Tae-poong lies down on the road, his body a testament to his desperation. Ma-jin relents, instructing the truck driver to keep driving regardless.

The episode concludes with Tae-poong staring up at the gentle flutter of falling flower petals, his mind drifting back to his father, a silent witness to the struggles of this day.
